It is. Also looks like a Korean made bass, so before 2008, possibly still with the Fralin pickups.

    I think it’s a 2006. Has 06 at the start of the serial. That makes it a 2006 I think doesn’t it?

The TRC doesn't look quite right either, it looks as though it's printed, rather than the usual "raised" lettering.

Might be a build by a certain British luthier who does very accurate replicas.

You're right it is flat. Is flat under but under a clear plexi.

After much searching I did manage to find one of these on Aliexpress. It's a very good copy but there is an issue with the neck pickup.

I'm no expert on these, but the truss rod area and the neck pickup rout just don't look quite right.

And shouldn't they have a "skunk stripe" as well?

Pickup route looked off to me. That said the channel is messy but lines up with what @kodiakblair posted but the pickup pocket doesn't look quite the same.

The truss rod route looks fine but not as wide as it only has a single truss rod.

The 4001C64S doesn't have a skunk stripe, so at least that looks correct.

Since when did Rickenbacker start using mini pots? Shouldn't they be full size CTS?

Caveat- I could be completely out of touch. I've only seen the inside of original 4001's.

I did wonder that but haven't ever opened one up. I twice had Fenders that used mini pots when they generally use full size ones.

  5. Hi all.

Am pretty certain this is a fake but just looking for confirmation. Wasn't given a model but I believe it's meant to be a 4001c64s based on the Paul McCartney bass. Has everything it should like Ric branded tuners, case and case candy. Truss rod cover looks genuine as does the bridge. The later I'm not 100% on the saddles. Has the satin finish that it should, reverse headstock and truss cover. Even has the zreo fret.

Taking the pickguard off though and things start to look fake. The routing for the neck pickup to the control cavity looks bad. The final warning light is the trus rod, yup just one. I've owned a couple of Rics and this feels very good and if I hadn't have taken the pickguard ond cover off I'd have believed it to be genuine. Am just checking that I'm 100% correct that it's a fake before I go back, just in case they put a single truss rod in the model, I don't think they did but I have heard Rickenbacker are now using single truss rods.

It's a niche model I'd think to fake and I can't find any of these fakes online. Any help would be great for going back to the seller.

    Thanks.

honestly dont know, once i used the infinty in a band setup i just didnt dig it at all

Ah, that's not so good. I had the same issue with the BK7 when I tried it. Loved the videos but when I played it with a band it just sunk the bass into the back. Videos sounded lovely.

Can I ask, did you replace it with anything else and if so what did you pick? Just curious.

    Sounds really good tbh

and yes the drives are very dg but also with the eq it’s not as set in stone.

im not using the di or ir but the dual outputs are letting me split my signal and send a clean compressed signal out to front of house but also then send them make use of the drives the midi switching is cool (now that I have a type A midi cable)

have to say im pretty happy

I have a question about the Infinity. I saw a review that stated the compressor only compressed the low end and not the high end. I know as standard on the DG Microtubes Ultra it only compresses the low end but if you hold down the bypass switch you can engage it to full band compression. Does the Inifinity have options to allow full band or low band, or are there no options?

Sorry I should have read to the end before posting this I came straight here from the photos you posted.

    Oops

Glad you have made progress with it.

No worries. Figured I'd post the fix in case anyone else ever has that issue and sees this thread.

It must be an optical illusion as it is/was sitting in the groove. I always check that it's in the correct one to sit between the poles on the pickup.

I dont think so as far as i understand it!

This thing is basically an extension lead just eith the second bit.

Apparently if you leave one unplugged you should tape it up with electrical tape

I was more thinking rather tahn extend each one I need to is to run one of these down to the bottom row and just buy as many as I need to fit to the bottom row of pedals. That should work as it would the same I guess as one pedal being a higher draw off the original chain but just supplying more rather than one draw. If that makes sense, lol.

  10. Ok so thought I'd update this. I took the bass apart and put it back together again. Same issue. What I then tried was swapping the bass saddles around and that seems to have sorted it. There was nothing there that was obviously an issue but guessing something was out of whack. Still not a massived low end sounding bass but it doesn't sound bad now. Cheers again for all the tips.

  11. Hi guys. Am putting together a pedalboard at the moment. I have a daisy chain power supply from my boss pedal. Some of the ends don't reach the desired pedal and wondered if extensions exist. I don't need massive lengths just a couple of pedals length really. Do these exist and if so where do you get them? I've been looking but I'm not coming up ith much. Best I could find were some CCTV ones on Amazon which I didn't know if they were right or not. Oh and it's just the standard Boss size 9v ones. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried a different bass (same model, if possible)?  I'm just wondering if it might be an issue with your hearing.

I haven't got the same model but it's basically a precision and I have 2 of those which are perfect. Even my Jazz had a basier sounding E string.

I had my hearing checked a couple of months ago. While I have a little loss it's still less than expected atmy age even if I do have tinnitus 😆

  13. Ok, so what I tried didn't solve the issue when put through an amp. The nut needs fixed in my opinion but it's likely that won't solve an issues when fretted.

Am I missing trying anything else? Next option is to swap the saddle around just in case there's something there.

Is it worth trying a Taperwound string since it's a USA string through body?

Hope you have got this resolved, but in case not, looking at the second picture it ‘looks’ like the nut has cracked or been repaired? As this is on the E string side, it ‘could’ be the cause of the weakened sound.

Good eye. I hadn't even spotted that. My OCD says thet'll be getting replaced regardless, lol.

I got this direct from the Fender factory brand new so by this point I don't really have any comeback but I'm whizzed as that's Fenders QC down again.

    Again awesome spot on that!

Strings are new but there might be a possibility that the string core slipped during the installation causing a dead string. That's why some manufactures suggest crimp before cut.

I do exactly that for that reason. Think I first saw it on Scotts Bass Lessons.

I think I may hopefully have it solved (At least I do acoustically). Will know tonight as have rehearsal. Will post back the results.
