5. Great stuff chaps. Anyone else got any info on their set-up and experiences of live double bass sound? Another gig last night using the SD systems LCM100... apparently it sounded nice, warm and acoustic in the room but I'm finding it hard to get enough volume on stage before feedback. I am sure a blend of mic and pickup would help... can't wait to try it! Steve
6. Hello, I thought it would be interesting to find out how you all amplify your acoustic double basses.. pickups? Mics? Amps and cabinets? I'll get the ball rolling by saying I'm using an 11 year old Michael Poller Romanian carved bass and I've just bought an SD systems LCM100 mic from Greg on here... I've only used it on one gig so far and it sounded lovely... running it through a Markbass Little Mark II and Bergantino HT112. I borrowed a bass for a gig a couple of weeks ago which was fitted with a David Gage Realist pickup... the bass sounded 'electric' on stage which I didn't like but having listened back to it on video it sounded surprisingly natural in the mix. I'd like to try a blend of mic and pickup as Greg suggested to me. The bass I am using right now has a Fishman pickup on it which sounds AWFUL! I hope to replace that as soon as possible. So, what do you do, what do you use, what have you got? I'd be interested to hear of peoples' experiences. Steve
7. Hi, I'm based in Birmingham and can give you some good instruction in the rudiments of double bass playing. Drop me a line if you're interested. Steve
8. That's interesting, I don't know who put that there! I didn't! Someone must be working on behalf!
9.
How many Randy Hope Taylor basses are being advertised on here at the moment?
I heard he's been going through a few trying them out.
10.
How is the neck on these Moon JJs? Is it really thin like a Fender Jazz or a bit chunkier?
Nice, narrow and comfortable with a glossy finish on the neck.
