Just Bought this off Warwickhunt yesterday but have been offered an alternative today so back up for sale at the same price 45+p+p

The controls are stacked volume and pan, bass, treble and mid. The frequencies will no doubt be available on the Warwick site (it is the same 3 band preamp they fit in the basses now).

It is only the neck on the bass that is made by Cairnes. Beatiful piece of birdseye maple though.

That Ric is the best colour they've ever done, absolutely stunning. Regarding the "clank tone" A new set of strings all controls on full and a bit of bass boost on a LOAD amp!
Failing that and you don't get on with it, sell me it LOL

Im not an expert but that looks like a 4003/5s, the owner has screwed the pickup cover over the saddles as a hand rest i presume, other than that could be one of the tuxedo/blackstar series.

Someone will correct me if im wrong??

The serial number should be on the jack plate and for a 77 should start with the letter Q. and then have another letter A-L for the month of the year and then 4 digits.

I realised that and hope you dont think i came in strong, the point i was trying to make was that the basses have the ability to sound very neutral and combined with an amp like the EA i was surprised with the description of the sound.

I've experienced a lot of instruments that have too much eq or character and when coupled with certain amps they can sound muddy, But as mentioned earlier its all down to personal taste and i suppose the context your using the gear in.

My mistake its this site not the book but there is a bass detailed here with the number 35863, thats 3 instruments off yours and thats registered as oct 1992

The serial numbers are detailed in the bass book by tony bacon, if you dont have a copy let me know the serial number as i have a copy.

It is all personal taste, however i would suggest its your mates rig that was possibly at fault. I use an overwater all the time gigging in a 3 piece, I use a rack system and 8x10 and get nothing but compliments about the cut and balls of my sound, Overwaters are designed to sound like the wood and construction of the instrument. If you want a character eq and pick ups, stick some in but as mentioned by others in the thread the build quality and playability is second to none.

Here is a screwjack 4 string bass bridge, which i think was made by wilkinson, I know this was a prototype which was a prototype bought from Overwater in 1994. They had received it as a sample.
The bridge is very heavy and very solid offering action and intonation adjustment for each string. It has 5 screw attachment and is a direct replacment for a fender 5 screw bridge as per badass bridges.
