I think it's a cliche for a reason - it is a classic Bass that is well designed and does its job well without any unnecessary complication, and the sunburst/tort/rosewood just kind of looks like a traditional Bass like this should (although I am also keen on White precision with Black Pickguard and white pickups).
I'm sure other basses "fit" other people better, but for me, a P bass just fits. It's like a cosy pair of slippers. I'm very much a traditionalist, some would say conservative (small c), my 6 string guitars reflect that too. But even when I swap to my Jazz bass, it just doesn't feel the same and is ever so slightly ergonomically wrong. As for the tone, my P bass has a deep powerful voice that I haven't heard in any other bass so far.

Congratulations!
I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that a Precision Bass is all I need, and cliche or not, mine looks just like yours only mine has a bit more wear.

Nice cab in used but not abused condition. No issues, sounds great.
I would prefer collection, but will meet up within a reasonable distance from Morecambe.
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks for posting this. This may actually be just what I have been looking for. I’ve been looking for a power supply which would power my Markbass Compressore on a board with a couple of other pedals. It needs a min 600ma 12v DC, and there’s not a lot out there at a reasonable cost…….until now! Cheers!

Excellent, congratulations!
( Even though it wasn’t your amp I’d not put a bottle of water on it though....😉)
Cap tightly screwed on though. But yes, I've experienced enough beer in my gear to last a lifetime.- 1

After 40 years of playing guitar in bands, and never being without a band until 2016, I've got my first gig on bass!
I first picked up a bass last November, so almost a year ago, and I was immediately hooked. I have practiced pretty much every day for at least an hour, until I felt confident enough to start looking for an opportunity to play with others. In the end, it was me who was approached, and we did our first rehearsal last night. It's an originals project, female singer/songwriter who plays guitar and piano and who is also a fabulous drummer (though she's not touching the kit in this project). Her husband is playing guitar, and the drummer is also female. Rehearsals were well organised, lots of info in advance including MP3 demos, in a brilliant live performance venue, proper stage, monitoring, a real piano, and even a house bass amp - Mark Bass CMD102P for me to use. They were pleased with what I was doing and it looks set to continue.
This feels like a moment. Thanks for listening 😁
Cheers,
Rob

I contacted BassBros about this very bass and they confirmed its all-original bar an old replacement tone pot. Frets are in great shape. I did my sums but unfortunately can't stretch to it. But if anyone is interested in the bass and needs some more pics, PM me.
I just worked through my finances today to see if I could buy this. I can. It’s sold. Humbug.

I don't know the exact weight but it's a pretty heavy piece of wood. I suppose I can get it weighed if you need.
I live near Durham N/E England.
I’ll PM you.

Has anyone ever taken the neck off (bolt on necks obv) and travelled like that? Asking for a friend...
I’ve flown to the Isle of Man a couple of times for gigs (guitar gigs) and just took my Telecaster in my carry on bag with the neck removed. Quickly assembled and strung up on arrival at the venue.

A couple of questions.
Do you know the weight?
Where are you located?
Cheers.

What are these Tweeter thing’s you speak of in a bass cab 😁
Indeed. I'm the guy who rolls the tone all the way OFF on my basses. A tweeter is superfluous for me.

A 73 precision was listed on eBay a few days back ,and I messaged the seller asking for a few more pics , while I looked at the pictures someone bought it, you gotta be quick on the button these days
Was that the one at £2299 buy it now? I’m not surprised it went fast! There is another on eBay, but that’s £4k.

Just scanned the PMT clearance and they have Roto flats on sale for £27 at the moment:
Will extra long scale be ok on a standard 34" scale?

Hi chaps,
I have "acquired" an acoustic bass in need of some TLC. The neck is rather banana like, the pre-amp is shot and the bridge is lifting off the body.
The plan is to ditch the electronics for the time being, adjust the truss rod, and remove and reglue the bridge (I've bought a deep throated clamp for the purpose.....ooo err)
I can actually play the thing to an extent, bearing in mind the above description, the main problem being the higher than desirable action.
So, assuming I find my "round tuit", what flats would you recommend for acoustic bass?
Cheers,
Rob
PS: I'll try to post some progress pics in the relevant section as I go.

I’m new to bass, having only picked it up late last year. What I do know is that sticking Vulfpeck on YouTube, through my TV and hifi, and jamming along in the lounge is probably the most fun I’ve had with my clothes on for a while.
Sure, I can’t play like JD, but…….. I can do my own thing alongside, and it makes me grin ear to ear.
Just sayin.

It’s a trade war now. GR’s 2x10 vertical cab is just 7kg! They have outdone Mark Bass before Mark Bass have even hit the dealers.
So, people with experience of their cabs, what’s your opinion?

On reflection, I’d buy it and play it if the price reflected the butchery. It looks like the mods have been reversed bar the routing with a blunt spoon, and it’s all covered up by the guard. I doubt the tone is affected at all. Any repair attempt would make things worse, as it would need a refinish afterwards, and it would be pointless to rout the channels clean and refill with suitable wood without a refin.
What’s the asking price, just out of interest?
edit: Is that the original guard? The routs underneath suggest a switch was added.

As some know, I’m relatively new to playing bass, however I do know how to set up my own guitars, having played electric for many years. This thread has had me rushing off to measure mine too!
At the 12th fret, my 1973 Precision is currently 1.5mm under the E string and 2mm under the G. I’d like it lower on the G, but I’d need a fret dress first as it would choke notes from about fret 15 upwards if it was lower. (Frets are original and don’t look to have ever been dressed)
I’ve visited the setup on this bass about three or four times. It’s all a balance of truss rod and saddles, and nut too if that’s an issue. I have the very tiniest relief in the neck, barely there, but it is.
When I changed to Thomastik flats from Picato had had to start again! Way less tension in the Thomastiks and I had to back off the truss rod a quarter turn before I could make any refinements.

I don't think they've even set the prices yet! I keep asking them on all their social media but never get an answer.
When they do, be prepared to be overjoyed, or deflated. It'll be one or the other.
Fortunately, Promenade Music stock a lot of their stuff and it's 15 minutes walk from me, so I'll be there as soon as they have them in regardless.
