Agreed, isn't there a product called a 'fatfinger' that people attach to the headstock for the same reason?

I quite like the look of the headstock now but wasn't sure at first so can see why some people think its ugly.

  2. This is really very sad news. What has amazed me reading the earlier posts is the amount of people who he touched and helped which I think will be his legacy.
Life can be cruel and I hope he is now at peace.

  3.
I'm selling an AtelierZ 5 string for under 1 k and it's easily in the top quality ranks.

I'm comparing with basses I've owned including Sadowsky,Celinder,Skjold,Nordstrand etc...

It's pretty heavy but if that isn't an issue for you there's no better IMO.
For the money this is the best 5 string Jazz you could buy. Its a steal.

Yes its nitro - Not sure about the dots?!? I suspect they are pearloid though. Its an Indian Rosewood board which is slightly brighter than the Brazilian to my ears. Its also nice and light which is a big bonus for long gigs!!

Yea thats the one! Nice bass, plays well and sounds great!

  6. Have you considered sending this to Mark at Bass Direct to sell for you? He will obviously want commission on top but he is the Nordy UK dealer and will probably sell this relatively easily for more money than you expect?
Just an idea. This bass has to be worth around £1200 second hand, if he sells it for that and you get £1000 everyones a winner!

  7. Mark has done me a massive personal favour recently which I don't want to go into detail about but suffice to say he helped someone who he had never before when he could easily have not bothered.
As part of this I met Mark and would certainly recommend him if you are considering dealing with him.
    Thanks!

  8. I bought the 4U version of this from Mark and it sits on the IP fantastically!

As to whether its the best I couldn't say but it does the job perfectly for me and has done a lot of gigs in the two years I have had it.

  9. Can you possibly put up one or two pics of each bass in the thread? It would definately help your cause from my experience of these things.

Also, if someone wants to buy one of your basses and your relative brings it over how will payment occur? I presume cash on pick up would be the way forwards here?

Thanks - you have some interesting pieces!!

Jon's charges do seem very reasonable in comparison to other builders from what I have seen but this then unfortunately seems to mean lower resale value also in most cases. Although hopefully if you are having the bass designed to your spec you will keep it and this will not be an issue.

  11.
The instrument has nordstrand NJSE 4's and redeemer circuit, its strung with new DR Marcus Millers... it really is a tone MONSTER this bass, as you would expect from this combo...
I owned this bass after Marcus and then swapped it with Flanker and not sure where it went next :-)

A great bass for sure. What is the 'redeemer circuit' that you mention? Is that original or did you add it in? Also have you still got the original pickups as opposed to the NJSE's?
