1. I used to have following Eden cabs:
1xD410XLT
1xD410XST
4xD112XLT

I sold them all. The last nail in the coffin was when I took two of my D112XLT's over to TKS workshop and side-by-side tested the TKS cabs against my Eden cabs. I was totally devastated. The D112XLT's were like a nail in the chest, a midrange honky horn with no bottom at all. At that time I used my Genz Benz ShuttleMax 12.0. With the Eden cabs I had to boost the bass with approx. 6 dB to get a decent tone. With the TKS cabs I had a marvellously thunderous but so clear tone with eq at noon. My present cabs are:
2xTKS 2126 (no tweeters)
2xTKS H115, one with tweeter, one without

The setups I use are as follows:
Genz Benz Streamliner 900 (w. one or two H115 or one 2126 cabs) 900W RMS at 4 ohms
Euphonic Audio iAmp800 (w. one or two H115 or one or two 2126 cabs) 1000 W RMS at 2 ohms
Eden Wt800B (w. one or two H115 or one or two 2126 cabs) 2x550 W RMS at 2 ohms / 1100 W RMS at 4 ohms bridged
Eden Navigator and QSC PLX3402 (w. one or two H115 or one or two 2126 cabs, or all of them) 2 x 1700 W RMS at 2,7 ohms / 3400 W RMS bridged at 4 ohms (Yes - this is overkill, but oh, so nice...)

Next cabs will be a pair of the smallest TKS 112 cabs...

2. I see this is an old thread, but I bought a master built Kremona this summer, an instrument originally built for a Danish bass player. (I got it in Copenhagen.) It is a somewhat odd custom built instrument with a 3/4 body and 4/4 scale. What made me buy this instrument? Well, it has a tone to die/kill for. Period. (It is a big bass; some 190 cm "from head to toe" with endpin retracted, and quite wide shouldered.) Due to the "massive size" it is a bit harder to play, but what you miss in speed you gain in tone. I equipped it with a Realist (under the foot copper) transducer and Evah Pirazzi Weich strings. This instrument is just some two and a half years old, but if it sounds this good now, well, how will it be when it has survived me...? I am no great upright player, my main instrument is electric bass, but I am more than okay on the instrument, I get well paid gigs anyway. There are better instruments around but I won't look for another. Don't have to. A really good instrument! Here are pictures from when I got it back home in July:

3. There is an old fretless Wal Pro 2E for trade - only for trade against a good five string bass - here in Sweden. Here is the link:
http://pratabas.se/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=75233

Translated by Mayhem Translate gives:
Well, I love this bass but still I need a fretless with at least five strings and this has only four ...

A piece of British engineering from '79, absolutely top class and with a sound you will not find elsewhere. Newly renovated by Wal themselves (incl. reshaping the fretboard, new fingerboard markers, renovation of electronics, new chrome on the neck plate etc etc). I let the cracked laquer and dents be (see picture), then they do not bother me. Unfortunately, the original case is long gone when it fell into so many pieces that it could not be saved.

Not for sale but only swapping for fretless 5- or 6-string. I imagine something like the F-bass, woody and mwwaah, preferably lined fingerboard and bolt-on but it is not a requirement. Trade value around £1500-1600. Can arrange more images.

Fitted a set of these to my Yamaha BB414, though it looks very different to the massive lollipop types, now I'm used to the look I quite like the look. The difference in weight ,which is why I'm posting this, is incredible, the originals weighed 100grams each, the Hipshots are 44g each, in old money the weight loss over 4 tuners is half a pound, give or take, on a bass that weighed 9lb 1oz it now weighs 8lb 8oz! Anyone thinking of buying these, do !!

Also: they work like a hot knife through butter. Smooooooooth is the word!

5. I used to have this one:

I bought it after my back surgery; I couldn't play anything heavier than this back then...

Thanks for the info. I am registered on pratabas, I think, but I do not spend much time there. I shall have a look and see if I can bjuda in mig på a Stockholm rendezvous!
What a pity!
Whe had a PrataBas get together at the TKS facility last fall. Tommy sells direct to customer; in that way you always get a brand new cab, unplayed and "unpawed" by others. Saves some dough too. I think TKS uses UPS for delivery, so that means shipping "everywhere".

Here's my latest Jazz, another '61;
That's a nice bass for sure! I've always wanted a bass like that but with five strings; now I am a bit closer to that. I got this one on the way home now - not a Fender, but you recognise the "origins"...

8.5kg! Do you still have the rest of it?
Yep! In a closet! I pick it out sometimes to frighten my friends. If you look under the thread with modified basses you'll find pictures of the original body. To be fair, it wasn't just the body that was heavy on this "monstrosity"; you could club an ox with the neck without that much effort. Then it had Badass bridge and three pups and solid metal knobs adding to that. Anyway, the neck have NO dead notes whatsoever due to that fact.
Happy new year, btw! :)

Used to work in a music shop in Belgium and this one was always great to play, a rare white Steinberger Elite with a D-tuner. A couple of weeks ago the shop closed and I got to buy this for a price which was affordable (2127 euros was a bit too much before the shop closed but I got it brandnew now for 1200 euros)
My cat is cross-eyed since an accident by the way (glad he survived it)

Nice cat! Nice bass!

10. My old Fender Jazz '78 i got second hand in '82 started its life as jet black; the first thing I did was to get rid of the original bridge, ashtrays and pick guard. Then I "grinded off" the black plastic laquer. It had already DiMarzio pups, but I added one more in the middle. Here, the third pup is removed. Bass face included! (1985)...

Around 2006, after 21 years with EMG pups...

After a LOT of mileage it looked like this around 2010. Retired due to its massive weight of 8,5 kg(!!!)...

Some three years ago I decided it earned a new life again, so I had a custom made body built to my specs.
Chambered ash body with heavily flamed Swedish birch. Still a bass on the heavier side, but fully managable.
Note the extra cutout on the back of the lower horn for full access to all frets, also a bigger tummy cut for a more mature(!) player...

How modified is it? Well, it is original from neck up, with the exception of a refret and a new saddle. BassChat record...? ;)

I have a new 55-02 for a couple of Days now and Man, that is an awesome Bass. This brandnew Bass was for Trade, so I offered mine as a Trade Object, but the Owner didn't like my offered Bass. So I offered my Bass in another Board as a Trade Object. Someone offered me a Spector Euro 5LX. I traded my Bass against the Spector and then the Spector (wich was not really my Cup of Tea) against the Lakland :)

Hope you like it.

"Hope you like it" he says...
We hope YOU like it, this is truly "the Beauty IS the Beast"...
Keep it! Always!

12. Here are two of my present Lakies:

Body closeup on my 55-94 Deluxe...

Here is a picture of my three 55-basses I had simultaneously: the three Musketeers...

The top one, the fretted 55-02 "Sir Flatwound" is sold, the other two are in my possession. "Sir Fretless" is a beautiful 55-02 and "Sir Roundwound" is my gorgeous 55-94 Deluxe...

I had this beast for a while, but sold it to get the black Bob...

Skyline HoBo with Bartolini pups. Bought it from the Bass Gallery, London, some years ago...

13. My old Fender Jazz Bass '78, original from neck up with the exception of refret and new saddle...

The original body is led heavy and literally broke my back...

The new beautiful body is made by luthier Tommy Bizzotto here in Sweden. (www.bizzotto.se)

The body is made of ash and "heavily chambered". The top is flamed Swedish birch. Some customisations: a nice cutout on the back of the lower horn allowing easy access to all frets.
The belly cut is made more... mature for a mature player...

Why mess up an original bass? Well, an original bass that is unplayed is no good to anyone. Due to its weight (8,5 kg!!!&!) it was retired. Then I met Maestro Bizzotto who promised to make a miracle.
The bass is still on the heavier side, but now completely managable. What about the tone, then? Of course it changed, but a silent bass that never is allowed to sing its heart out has no sound at all.
Now the tone is a bit more P-bass-ish but still with the bite associated to the late 70's Jazz basses.

I've owned this bass since '82 and now it is in my fleet again...

Interestingly, pre-TKS, was in discussions with a well-known UK-based cab builder a little while ago about putting cloth over a grille, he old me this couldn't be done effectively. It was strictly a choice between one or the other.
He was just lazy.
The problems occur if the cloth isn't stuck to the grille, then it will flap and make noise. Anyway, this is a bomb proof solution. And gorrrrgeous!

I use mine for both with no ill effect......

The H115 works with upright bass, but it is important to have an amp that isn't too bass heavy. Personally, I think 12" woofers sound better for upright, so my plan is to get a pair of the smallest 112 cabs for that reason. Same colour scheme, of course. Another day. Another year.
