  1. Thanks for the link Pete, just had a quick read. I think the problem I found when playing a Stagg (long time ago, memory like a sieve) was that the bridge was very flat so when playing with the bow I kept catching 2 strings. I do seem to remember it being "an odd" bridge, not a normal db bridge and didn't fancy trying to re-shape it at the time, plus the bass didn't actually belong to me. Can you post a pic of the bridge? These days after dreaming about owning one for a very long time I've got a Bridge electric double bass which is probably one of the closest electrics to playing an acoustic bass.
  2. I found the Stagg very difficult to get a good tone. What mods are you doing? Maybe that's where I went wrong I bought the prettier bow from YitaMusic a few years ago, still going strong!
  3. Jumping straight in at the deep end (only joined forum today) I would say it doesn't really matter whether it is French or German bow, they both do the job but it does depend on which EUB you have. Some really are not suited to being played arco at all, great for that jazz pizz style but almost impossible to get a good sound with the bow. Which EUB do you have?
  4. Hello and a very Happy New Year to all. Just a quick hello from a Bass Lady (lady in the loosest of terms) from Wales. New to the forum but not new to bass playing. Having played upright bass in a previous life I am now a classroom music teacher with a passion for all things bass.......... electric, acoustic, upright, sideways, inflatable......... Not actually sure if I have been a member here before but had a great time reading a few posts so thought I would join in the fun. Cheers from sunny (ha ha!) Wales xx
  5. So glad I am not the only one looking for the illusive purple basses. Got a real attack of GAS and bought an Ibanez SR400QM recently to add to my purple Daisy Rock. Neither are what I'm really looking for but they are a start. Ninja Baby, that is an stunning bass. Please, what is it?
