1. Sorry to double post but can someone confirm if it is a 2 pole or 4 pole speakon socket in the pictures as I need to order this asap. Thanks EDIT: Only just thought to have a look on the kustom website for owner manual's for the cab, found this Kustom Groove G410H Manual and from the wiring diagram it looks like it is a 4 pole but only 2 are used, is that correct? EDIT: Remembered there's a PA hire company in town so went to see them and he made me a speakon to jack cable and gave me a 4 pole speakon socket all for £10 so sorted now.
2. I was told that as theres 4 connections on the back of the speakon socket (2nd picture in 1st post) that it was a 4 pole socket, is this not correct?
3. A few months ago my amp started playing up, I finally tracked the problem to the speakon input on the back of the cab (Kustom 4x10). When you plug the cable from the head into the cab theres room for it to wobble about slightly and it's now got to the point where I have to tape it into position or the sound cuts out occasionally. I have tested with 3 speakon cables and all are doing the same and they all fit tightly into the output plug on the amp so it's definatley the input plug. I'm guessing this has just worn down from general use (I'm the 3rd owner of the amp) I've taken the back off the cab to have a look and it looks pretty simple to de-solder the plug and then just solder a new one on (have quite a bit of practice soldering so confident enough to do that myself). Just wanted to ask here first to make sure I wasnt about to mess anything up. All I need is a 4 pole speakon plug, correct? The left is the input (not that you can see any difference between the 2) The speakon plugs are the top 2 pieces. Assuming all I need is a normal 4 pole speakon plug I will order 1 from maplin soon, but in the meantime I have an old jack cable and a spare speakon cable so was planning to take an end off each and make 2 speakon to jack cables to use but have 2 quick questions: 1. I'm pretty sure it's +1 to tip and -1 to sleeve, am I right? 2. Is there any difference between speaker and instrument cable? Just wanted to check as the speakon cable says speaker cable on it and the jack cable says instrument cable, although both look the same inside, just 2 wires. Thanks EDIT: Done some more research and found out the difference between speaker and instrument cable so won't be making a 2nd speakon to jack lead out of the old guitar cable!
4. Yeah that's what I'm planning for my next bass, just got to wait and see how far I can stretch the funds or if I'll have to wait a bit longer for it
5. Been lurking on these forums for about a year now, signed up last year when I was looking for a new bass but haven't posted much so decided it was time to introduce myself. My names Ben, I'm 21 and been playing bass properly for about a year now (played guitar for many years and had a cheap bass lying around that I never used until I was asked if I wanted to join a band as the bassist so sold all my guitar stuff and started playing bass). I'm currently living in Carmarthen but spend my weekends at band rehearsals in Cwmbran. I play in a punk band called Strawberry Blondes I play a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz through a Kustom Groove 1200w with Kustom 4x10 cab (also have a crap P-Bass copy as my backup bass, made by a company called Black?). With a birthday coming up soon (tomorrow) I'm hoping to pick up a 3rd bass so I can leave the P-Bass copy at home for practice and have 2 decent basses for gigging.
6. Still interested in selling? If so could you give me a rough idea on price you're looking for. Thanks
7. No bids, lot of watchers and only 2 hours left. Grab yourself a great amp for cheap!
8. Right thanks a lot for all the answers. Just wanted to make sure i wasn't going to damage my bass if i cleaned it with the wrong stuff.
9. I had a quick search but couldn't seem to find much. I recently bought a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz which has a maple body and neck. I've read a few guides about what to use to clean basses on other sites but all of them said not to use things like lemon oil etc on maple but they didnt say what could be used. I want to buy some stuff so I can keep this bass clean and sounding it's best but not sure what is safe to use on maple. If someone could tell me what is the best to use for cleaning the body and the neck/fretboard Highly Strung, Guitar Care Products Are any of these ok to use? Or even better if someone knows a UK site that sells the kits (cloth, cleaning product etc) that is for maple. Thanks
10. Quite a few people watching it but still no bids, grab yourself a bargain!
11. Need money for rent (and as i'm now a bassist) so decided to sell my line 6 flextone on ebay Line 6 Flextone
12. Thanks for the replys, found a new VM Jazz last night for £170 as it had a small dent so have ordered that.
13. Would you be interested in selling this instead? If so howmuch would you be looking for?
14. Thanks both of you, checked seymour duncan for wiring diagrams but they had none for p-bass without tone, didn't think to check on fender though. Sorted now and working fine again.
15. Plugged my bass (P-Bass copy) into the amp on friday at band practice and it was buzzing really loudly, i could barely hear what i was playing over the noise. Eventually worked out it was the tone pot, I always have it on full but the only way to stop the noise was to turn it completely down. Had 2 gigs on the weekend where i had to play with it completely down, luckily managed to get it sounding alright by fiddling with the amp's eq. Need to fix the bass now but I'm thinking as the tone is always on full (I play punk) would it work just to wire the bass without a tone control? If so could someone please find a wiring diagram. Thanks
