1. Thank you all for your nice comments - you are all right!
2. Thank you silverfoxnik for your support - you pinpointed two of the MTD characteristics: they are not pretentious basses (yet they deliver above the call of duty), and as far as 5 stringers go the MTD neck just doesn't feel like a 5 stringer - they're comfortable. Regards
3. Please feel free to contact me if you're in London and would like to try out this amazing bass. It is worth it. Did I mention it weighs only 6.6lb ?
4. Thanks to everyone for their input - I definitely agree that whoever purchases this bass won't feel that he/she paid too much for it, it's just that good.
5. This is a completely original Ernie Ball Music Man Sabre Bass. I purchased this bass from the original owner, who bought it new from Sam Ash in Florida. The active pickups are the originals that came with the bass, as are all knobs, switches, tuners, wiring... you get the picture. The strings have been changed, from time to time, and are currently new. The Bird's Eye Maple neck is in excellent condition, the frets remain tight, and there is little wear, a good polishing and your ready to go. The truss rod is functioning properly. The body has some scratches on the back , and there are a couple small dings and dents in the enamel on the face, nothing horrible, the paint is original. The pick guard has a couple of cracks in it from shrinkage, it has never been replaced. One tuner is slightly looser than the others, but is fully functional. The Alan keys needed for any adjustments to the string height or truss (there are 2) are included. The bridge as well and the strings raise and lower just fine. None of the Alan screws were stripped. The bridge is fully adjustable and in perfect working order including the mutes. The controls are for volume, bass boost, and treble boost, all work well. The switch is five way giving you plenty of tonal options and phase capability. The pickup covers show some wear, they were never replaced . The case is the original case that was sold with the bass, black velvet and all. None of the vinyl is peeling and all seams are solid as far as I can tell. There are some slightly worn spots and although the latches and fittings look roughed up, they do still lock and the key is included. A nice sounding piece of bass history, yours for a mere 1200 pounds. Can be played and compared to the rest of my stable for sale (Celinder, Zon, Modulus, Fender Geddy Lee 73', Pedulla Rapture fretless, MTD Z5 and Parker PB51) in London N6 area. Please contact me if interested.
6. The asking price is 1250 pounds - thank you for reminding me ( I had a feeling I omitted some important detail in my description).
7. Hi all, If Celinders and Music Man Sabres ( see my other posts ) are not your thing. how about a very sweet MTD Zephyr 5, in wonderful condition. Less than a year old. It is a Kingston-Series Zephyr 5-string (Z5) bass guitar made by Michael Tobias Design . It is a beautiful instrument which sounds amazing, and has never been played live (it's in mint condition). As with any MTD, this bass plays like a dream and provides ultimate control over dynamics and tone (which is the main reason I bought it). I have owned/played many different basses and this is easily the best for the money. One of its best features is the Buzz Feiten tuning system, which literally keeps the strings in tune for weeks. Specifications: -35" scale -24 medium jumbo frets -Zero fret 1 3/4" wide -MTD quick release bridge, 3/4" (19mm) -One-piece neck w/satin polyester finish -Carved mahogany body with maple burl top -Controls are volume, blend, treble, midrange, bass -MTD active wood covered soap bar pickups. -Shielded electronics compartment Asking price for the bass and a new GatorShell case with keys is £700 .
8. If the Celinder P4 Update ( offered two days ago) is too much for you, maybe this ultra light Zon might catch your fancy. Beautiful, light, and tonally awesome. It can go from a modern jazz to vintage thump. Other than two small dings(see pics below), this bass is mint. - 6.6lbs. - Super fast neck, no dead spots - 1.532 inches at the nut - two custom wound jazz style Bartolini pickups - the stacked control knobs are vol/vol and treb/bass - Black hardware (an upgrade) - Comes with factory Zon hardcase This is a very nice bass!
9.
There must be something about Celinders i'm not aware of - they do seem VERY expensive to me.. but they do seem to sell.
Hi Machines, That was exactly my first reaction about Celinder - VERY expensive; but then I played one, and everything became clearer. This is a guitar one would take to a desert island, if one had to choose just one bass out of many (and assuming there was an electricity outlet on that island)... But seriously, this is a professional grade bass, from the external presentation, which exudes quality, to the powerful, clear and amazingly sustained sound it produces. Maybe my asking price seems high, but: a) it is well worth it and it is lower than to order a new one (not to mention the time factor, which is quite meaningful with Celinder basses). So don't miss this opportunity to own a Celinder.
10. I'm selling a Celinder Update P4. The bass has a Danish Ash body with a maple fingerboard. Celinder pickup and Greengrove preamp. This beautiful bass is less than a year old and is in excellent condition. There are no dings, dents or scratches of any kind. What appears to be a scratch in the photo of the back is just an anomaly. It's NOT a scratch. The color is Trans Burgundy. The pictures dont really do the bass justice. It's more of a natural trans burgundy than the pictures show. I think the pictures make the bass look more "creamy" than it actually is. The bass plays and sounds amazing! If you want a 70's style P-bass with some modern refinements, this is your bass. Considering the quality and how hard it is to get a hold of this bass, the asking price is a modest 1900 pounds. Feel free to ask any questions, to come and check out the bass in London N6 Highgate area.
