Played my first gig last night as a bass player. Absolutely terrifying but also enjoyable. We played from 7.30-11.00 and I was shattered. I was given a song list of over 40 songs two weeks ago and had to busk them all, happy days!!!!!!!!! I managed to keep my timing and hit the roots so the future looks rosy.
Has anybody got any advice for a beginner please to make it easier.
Thanks

Hello Jerry
You are spot on there mate, I don't need a P Bass but I did want it so of course I had to have it but do you know, I don't think it is a patch on my L-2000 Tribute. I know I shouldn't say it and I am only a beginner but to me the G&L looks better, sounds better and I think plays better. Never mind, it looks nice hanging on the wall.
best wishes

Thanks Bert, and thanks for the advice on where to post my questions. I promise I will not sin again.

Hello to you all.
Can you help me please? I keep reading about flat wound strings. Are they better, and do they make a difference in the sound of the bass? Why do people prefer them?
Sorry all basic stuff but I am that new to the bass.
Thanks

Cor Blimey, I've only gone and bought another!!!!!!!!!!!! Just been and got a lovely Fender USA P Bass Deluxe. It's delicious. I obviously didn't read the site disclaimer, but this is my last, honest????????????????

Nice one Jerry. I still haven't fully got to grips with mine yet, and, I am still a very beginning bass player, although a complete convert and really hope to get in a band one day. I am currently interested in a Fender USA P Bass Deluxe. Do you think it is worth spending the dosh on it or will the L-2000 do the job just as well.
best wishes

Hello Jerry
Let me know how you get on with the L2000 after gigging it. I had to look at a video as well because I couldn't work it out. I am really new to the bass and found all of the switches confusing but think I have got them sorted now. I am just learning Mustang Sally and it seems to suit it very well.
Enjoy your gig, thanks for your feedack and thanks to all you others who helped me out. I am not used to the site yet but I will get there.

Can anybody help me please? I have replied to a couple of ads but I haven't had any replies. How/where do I get access to the replies? Do they come to my e-mail or will they come back as an answer on the actual ad?
Thank you, confused of Oxfordshire!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????? -

Thank you all for my very nice welcome.
Yes, I do seem to have aquired a lot of instruments in a short time, but that is what I seem to do and guess what? I have my eye on another so I will soon reach 834!!!!!!!!!!
I am not one of the Leicestershire Vickers I don't think. I am one the Darlington Vickers who now lives in Oxfordshire.

Hello to you all. I have recently joined Bass Chat after just taking up the bass. I am now totally obsessed and have aquired four lovely basses.

Fender Mex Jazz

Gibson SG short scale

G&L Tribute L2000

Squier Precision Bass Special
Is there any hope for me, or does bass aquisition syndrome just get worse?
Best wishes to you all

Thank you all so much for your positive and kind comments. This really is the place to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have taken on board everything that has been said and I will certainly be looking forward to the next one in two weeks. By that time I should be better and have more confidence to play more than roots.
thank you, thank you
