I have just bought an active bass and am confused. When it is plugged into the passive socket it is really loud, when plugged into the active socket it is really quiet and mellow. I know it is a daft question,(Mine usually are) but what is the best/correct way to use an active bass to get the best out of it?

I did my 2nd gig on Saturday and followed all of your advice and it was much better, thank you.

I had spent the week learning "Brown Eyed Girl" and just about nailed it. Then on the night just as I was going to get my 10 seconds of glory with the short lead part, the singer forgot where we were and starting singing just as I was going to break out! Cor Blimey I was upset.

Anyway, another gig in 2 weeks time and with luck I will get more confident as I do them.
