1. Thanks for the pictures and info about your visit to Chris workplace, CrazyKiwi!

Wow, would really like to play this bass. It's alot like the Celinder I have on order.
Except mine will be a 4 string, and will have a Cocobolo top (I think this one is Koa) and no fretlines, only sidelines.

I really enjoyed my meeting with Chris last year. Very nice guy, and he learned me alot about the craft of making the perfect bass.

2. Exactly. Chris told me once he never used swamp-ash beceause the wood is so soft, and it just destroys the tone.
His basses with ash body's are just to heavy for me, so I prefer the ones with Alder. Great tone, and not to heavy.

3. I thought that the people on this subforum might enjoy these pictures. :)

4. Very similar.....
Both 4 strings, one pickup, and the body's were made out of wood. :)

For those who requested extra pictures. I will finally send you some today.
It has been a very busy week with work and 4 gigs, so it took a bit longer than I hoped for.

5. Hi,

Thanks, and it's much nicer in person.... :)
And to answer your question: Its was an advertisement for another Stingray

Several people asked for extra pictures. I will take them tomorrow, and post them also in this ad.

pardon my Englisch. The North Sea is our own Ocean....
I wonder why its never been used?
This bass was owned by a guitar player, so it stayed in it's case most of the time. It has been used a bit. Looks like a bass that has players wear for 1-2 years instead of 30....
I still have this is anyone's interested:-
Sorry, that's kind of rude in somebody's for sale ad.... :)

7. Sorry about the bad exchange rates. :)
Here on the other side of the pond I have seen them sell for more, but none of them were as nice looking as this one.

It is currently strung with LaBella Flatwounds.
Alot of thump, Bernard Edwards-style....

8. Wombatboter is right about this.
Als you can see in the statistics the GBP lost a lot of value in 2008., that explains the difference in price between him and Walplayer.

9.
another celinder?
No, A '77 Stingray, in 'mint' condition. Plays and sounds wonderfull.
Bought it on the day, Birdy put this FS-ad up here......
I really would like to have an J Update, but I like the Stingray to much, to part with it, to fund for this Celinder.
And with already 2 Celinder J-basses, I can't complain. . :)

10. There is no real difference between the J and the P basses (except for the pickup location)
The P Update has a Celinder (kent armstrong) pickup, while the Classic the Antiquity II/Lindy Fralin)
Here is all the information on sleekelite, that used to be on the Celinder site also...

http://www.sleekelite.com/catalog/celinder.html

11. Difference between Update and Classic. I'm not totally sure on some details, but here are some differences.
As I said earlier you can choose any combination, as these are custom handmade basses......

(J) Update
70ies pickup placement
heavy ash body
9" radius fretboard
maple fretboard
Active electronics
Celinder HC pickups

(J) Classic
60ies pickup placement
Alder body
7.25" radius
braz. rosewood fretboard with claydots
passive electronics
SD Antiquity II/ Fralin/ or the upcomming Celinder SC pickups.
usually the J Classic has a period correct rosewood fretboard, and P Classic I have seen some with rosewood some with maple.

Here is a P Classic with braz rosewood fretboard.....

Between the Classic and Update you have the vintage model
it's sort of a J Classic with active electronics, Celinder HC pickups!

To make it even more complicated, today I received a confirmation for my custom ordered Celinder fretless
a J Vintage with chambered mahogany body, cocobolo top, Celinder SC pickups brazilian rosewood unlined fretboard, Birdseyemaple J Classic neck!
So as you can see there are alot of options. More Fodera than Sadowsky in that way.

Hope I made the differences clear :)
