1. First you got to be sure, this would be the type of Celinder you are looking for. :)
I always thought there is something really special about the passive Celinder basses, but soundwise they are very different from the famous J Update sound.

2. Some fair points, but don't forget the Celinder is a 'copy' of a early sixties Stackknob Jazzbass. Now that I have an original stackknob Fender that I even like a bit more than the Celinder, it would be a shame to use this bass for backup. So the next few months I will think about de-fretting, or selling this bass.

3. Thanks for the kind words. Glad you like my 'Style' ^_^

I orderd the bass in 2006 from Chris with these specs. I think Gold is on of the best looking colours on a classic style bass (P, J, Starfires etc.)
After the recent purchase of a very nice old Fender Jazz, this Celinder lost it's place as my #1 bass. I thought about selling it for a while, but now I'm thinking seriously about converting it to fretless. The thick brazilian rosewood board it perfect for it. And with a nice 'poly' coating will look very sharp. It is also hard to part with it so I guess this is the best solution.

4. A few months ago I bought an amazing Fender Jazz Bass from 1971 in original Candy Apple Red. A special custom colour.
You can find the original FS thread here with extra pictures:

Very light, and sounds amazing, great slapsounds, and Jaco bridge pickup tone. I prefer the feel of my Celinder, so it doesn't get much time being played. All original, except for the condensator (don't know for sure), and a refret (pro job). Bass is in very good condition for it's almost 40 years of age, afew small spots on the neck and headstock. A very nice aged CAR body colour, and on some spots the gold undercoat comes through. Looks amazing.

Neck dates SEPT71A (hard to see on the picture)
Serial number is 32XXXX

Comes with a case, and the priginal chrome pickup covers and foam!.

I'm asking 2900 GBP/ 3350 Euro's
Shiping is no problem at buyers expense.

Prefer a straight sale, but would consider (partitial) trades for:
4/5 string jazzbasses Celinder Sadowsky, Alleva Coppolo
(refinished) pre-CBS Fenders
Fender CS Pastorius fretless
Pre-EB MM Stingray fretless
High End 5 string (F-bass/ Fodera)
Just let me know If you have sometihing interesting.

5. You should really try the P Vintage that Lozbass owns now. That bass is IMHO a few leagues above the two P Classics that you owned, including the red one. And I really think these P Classics are fantastic.

That J Vinatage 5 fretless was one of the best basses I ever played and good looking to.
I really hated it I had to sell it because of the 5 strings. :) I heard it was stolen in The Netherlands two years ago....

7. It's a wonderfull precision bass you got, especially with the 'pre CBS A' profile neck. Plays very nice.

The Shoreline Gold J Classic is the only bass I never considered selling. I usually have two basses, and put the new bass for sale after a while because it doesn't get played. :) I think you are the fifth person to ask (!), but will let you know if I ever consider selling it.

8. Hope you are still enjoying that amazing P Vintage. I miss it sometimes, but I have to be honest that I always choose for a Jazz bass.

I've owned a lot of Celinders (especially if you consider there are only a couple of hunderd Celinders made):
- J Update 4
- J Vintage 5 fretless
- J Vintage 4 fretless
- P Classic
- P Vintage

But my J Classic 4 I received in 2007 is really special. I use for 90% on stage.

I made these just a few minutes ago, still no intrest  ?
What a fantastic looking bass. I just bought another bass. Otherwise I would have taken the first train to Belgium... :)

10. The Fenderish models are: (P and J versions)

1) Update: Ash/Maple (70ies position J pickups): Active electronics
2)Vintage: Alder/ Rosewood, Active electronics
3 Classic: Passive electronics. Usually Alder/Rosewood for J, Alder/Maple for P*

These are just the standard specs. I've seen J Classics with active electronics, Update's with rosewood board etc.
You just pick a model, and start customizing.
For example I have a J Vintage fretless on order, with mahogany body, and cocobolo top. :)

Standard are his own pickups, but you can still order them with SD, Fralins, Nordstrand, EMG, or a Aguilar preamo instead of the greengrove.
