1. I think motley Crüe tune to D from when I played guitar, I have trouble playing to Saxon 747 album track I'm sure it's so many cents out like peace sells by megadeath, I get round it by jamming along to them live usually in Eb. Got a track of evh playing jump in his garden in F

Flat Five - the Addams Family door bell or MAris from West Side Story

    Flat Seven - Star Trek

Sixth - Inchworm or My Way

Third - Stardust (OK a bit obscure for most here but it strikes a chord with me)

Minor third - Smoke on the Water

I had a load of Guitar Player mags from the 80s and 90s, they were the sort of magazines you could reread many times with great joy, and I did. Tommy Tedesco's studio log was an incredible column, as was Larry Coryell's and various others. The interviews were brilliantly informative, as were the transcriptions, news, and other bits and pieces. It was a very high quality read. I'm afraid BGM feels like reading a start up mag, there's just no magic in those pages for me. It's a shame, maybe it's just my age.
im a huge fan of 80s and early 90s guitar world it was really good you also got bass players in it like billy Sheehan Michael Anthony etc

    Now that's a good idea!!

I've looked out my "Message In A Box" set. Time to have fun playing along to those classic tracks.
Awesome box set, I remember wanting that a few years ago

It is called serial composition and, yes, it is likely to sound very avant garde!
:) I'm typing on my iPod touch its faster for browsing than my g4 iBook at the moment. There was a composer who did very odd stuff was he called Schoenberg or something, some of it sounded like scary incidental music in films

  7. Ideally you could have your instrument plugged into garage band at the same time and then synch them in iMovie' I'm guessing this might tad the processor tho, I would try standing the iPad on some sort of stand table etc next to your amp so that it picks the audio up clearly. I should have a go with my iPod touch' I have a Kodak zi6 cam tho as well I will most probably record the audio direct to GarageBand on my iBook laptop and synch the video in iMovie. Can't wait to see your result though I bet the iPad has a reasonable mic and the video is hd. Can't wait to see what others suggest too

Stephen, you know I love you like a brother, but this ... !
The cricket bat is one of the coolest bass designs in the history of mankind. Fact.
Regular bodies with headless necks are another story, but I'm not gonna empty my stomach just to describe them.

    best,
    bert
aww I particularly love the guitar shaped headless, my dream one would be white with black binding or some sort of custom graphics like tiger stripes, a Japanese theme or those Eddie van halen Frankenstein stripes, I see his son Wolfgang has this pattern on his new bass's.

That's easy for me, I just pointed out that when we play on small stages it means I don't stick the head in Mrs Zero's ear. Evidence below...
awesome there is always some justification if one thinks hard enough

  10. He seems to be fond of oiling the pot's are you not supposed to put some sort of. Contact cleaner on them that won't attract dust and gunk, I'm sure you can't just spray them with wd40. He seems fixated on machine heads now and putting them at strange angles leaving the instrument looking like some poor infant with grotesquely misshapen teeth.

  11. :) fun reading the headless bass comments, I don't have a wife gf at moment but still feel guilty my family are round my place all the time and I have 4 guitars and 2 bass's, they think I'm mad yet this is a relatively small quiver of instruments compared to some people and they give me great pleasure
