1. I really like my status half wounds. I did get a dead E, but they sent a new one after I emailed them so if you do get a dead E deal with confidence. They are great for having a flat feel but a tonality of a round that has bedded in nicely.
2.
These are great little multi FX and very under rated GLWTS
Thanks! I found it really handy for the drum machine and using it has a jamming tool. I dont really need it so much now that I've found a good way of using my laptop to do this.
3. Bump - now £25 posted. great ray tone and much cheaper than a john east! All that needs doing is resoldering the jack back on to the wires on the preamp - I had to clip it to free it from the tight cavity in my bass. If I get time I will try sorting this though.
4. Grab yourself a bargain with this Zoom B2 multi fx. Has built in tuner, drum machine, loads of effects and amp sims etc. Will need a power supply but a generic multi voltage adapter will work in it no problem. £30 PayPal gift or bank transfer posted within UK.
5. I haven't got any pics but I like what you're saying! Never understood the term guitard too. I play guitar and bass so have no issues with fellow musicians!
6.
The Epiphone LTD ED 1966 G400 SG has some great humbuckers (better than the cheaper models!) and comes in at £260. Might be worth a shout? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/epiphone-limited-edition-1966-g-400-pro-cherry/59662?gclid=COzh2Jzxrr4CFaXHtAodEkAAHQ
Didn't see this post originally - these look very good. Love the Pelham blue one
7. Update - really like these strings now that they've settled in a bit and Status kindly sent me a replacement E string for the dead E that came with the pack and new string is absolutely fine. I can enjoy a lower action with these strings too over rounds so playability is improved somewhat (for me). I find the tone at the point of putting them on is exactly how I like a round to sound, but can imagine that once they bed in they may take on more of a flat wound character. Glad I got them now for sure!
8. Thanks for replies. Another really inexpensive guitat that has got my eye is the Epiphone Les Paul Junior, which has a single bridge humbucker and woudl be very familair to me with previously having a single humbucker SG. They are only £99 so a trade in of one of my two basses would definitely cover it and a pickup swap could make them sing from what I understand.
9. Hi for sale is a retrovibe stinger preamp which is a clone of a 2 band stingray preamp. I had it in my Vintage EST96 stingray copy and really helps nail the ray tone. I've had it in for just a few months but then realised the ray tone isn't really me, so am going to turn the bass passive. The jack (not pictured) will need soldering back on to the red and black wires that are clipped in picture but is a quick job if you've got a soldering iron. £25 posted in UK, PayPal gift please.
10. For sale I have a Retrovibe stinger preamp which is a 2 band clone of a pre - Ernie Ball Preamp. I've had it in my ray copy and it pretty much nails the tone! I've personally gone off that particular tone somewhat so am going to turn the bass passive so raising funds for one of Kiogons excellent wiring kits. £30 posted in UK. PayPal gift or bank stransfer. **withdrawn***
11.
Sorry, that was intended to be a sort of joke with reference to this thread debating the pronunciation of 'Status'.
Ahh I never saw that thread, I thought you just kept spelling it wrong because you were typing fast haha. Staytus all the way!
12.
Are they Staytus or Stattus Half Wounds?
Official name is Status Hotwires and they the half rounds
13. i think the jury is out for me on half rounds. They do sound pretty good but the feel is a bit strange - although smoother feeling than rounds there is considerable drag on them, but I guess this might just mean they need more playing time. I experienced this with flats at first, except that went away very quickly on flats (within an hours good play) so maybe halfs need more to lose the grippiness.
14. Been doing some more investigation and I particularly like the idea of the Epiphone SG Special which is £145. http://www.gak.co.uk/en/epiphone-sg-special-cherry/16841?gclid=CJOp2sWRpr4CFRQbtAodyQQAug I used to have a Gibson SG-X, which was a limited edition simpler version of an SG, but with just a single humbucker and this has a similiar vibe but with the added bonus of a neck pickup. Anyone any experience of these guitars? They seem to get positive reviews. In my opinion, they look nicer than the traditional SG with its simpler arrangement of knobs and with the black open pole syle humbuckers.
15. Strings came today and a few minutes play they seem decent compromise between the flat feel but with a round like sound. I read a good analogy someone wrote comparing the feel of groundwounds to paper whereas flats are more like plastic and this is accurate. Unfortunately the low E is dead so have requested a replacement so hopefully Status will replace it - I've heard they are good like that. The strings feel a bit grippy at the moment but hoping a good play in will sort this out.
16. I am quite drawn to the vintage v100 (les paul copies) I must admit, as their stuff is decent quality. I've got a Vintage MM copy and its a good well built bass (but is going to go in the cull towards a new electric as its a 5er therefore too many strings for me for a bass!) I wish the V100's in Blueburst though, it would proably be a done deal if that was the case.
17. After a chop and change and refresh of my instruments, Im trying to get to my magical number which is 4 instruments. I.E - 2 electiric guitars - 1 with with single coils 1 with humbuckers 1 acoustic 1 bass Ive got 3/4 sorted , but I want to get a nice guitar that is inexpensive (between £200 - £300) that has humuckers that will complelent my single coil guitar, a Squier CV telecaster. Ive had various ideas of guitars within that budget e.g an Epi Les Paul, JSH Vintage vRS (which is a bit like a PRS) and an Epi Dot Studio. Anyone else got any ideas that they can throw my way to whet my appetite?

Ouch yet wow!

I've always used 9s for standard tuning, when downtuning I've upped the gauge but it feels more or less the same. I did standard tuning with 11s but didn't like the feel at all, even dropping action didn't help.
19.
I used that latency monitoring app on my PC. Bluetooth drivers were the major cause of glitches so I completely uninstalled them as I don't use Bluetooth. Also, bear in mind that you have to disable drivers in the Device Manager. Just disconnecting from a wifi net is not enough. The smaller the buffer and hence the latency, the more often an audio driver has to reach for that buffer and process it. This is kind of serialised activity in the context of all drivers. So if there is a driver like the Bluetooth one which takes too much time doing its own stuff, the audio driver does not get to process its buffer and you get sound cracks, glitches, etc ... . That latency monitoring app reports these kind of situations along with driver names. It is very useful. There is another whole story going on about IRQ (hardware interrupt handlers) sharing. Let's not get into that. Just disable hardware interfaces you don't use at all like a serial port, FireWire, ancient phone modem interface, etc ... . WASAPI is great. It is an audio API which directly talks to audio hardware. There are no middle men in that communication and that is why it is fast. I am not sure whether it works for USB devices at all, but it is not working for me. However, I sold my USB interfaces as soon as I found out I can use it with the integrated audio card line-in. I get about 2ms latency which is amazing given the price. It sounds good enough to my ears as long as I use a line driver pedal (SFX Boost). I use this setup for practicing the bass with headphones plugged in. My upstairs neighbors don't knock on the floor at 11PM anymore
Thanks - I will try disabling the unused interfaces to see if this can reduce glitches further. The laptop is not the best, its 7 years old and was pretty mid range spec when it came out - 1.6Ghz, 2 GIG ram, but it does seem to cope ok and is running Windows 8.1 now which is fairly less intensive than the Vista that used to be on it!
