1. So usually when you spot something that seems to be popular you pop a post in the spotted forum. So when I saw the Jazz in my local Gumtree I was just about to post when that little devil popped up on my shoulder and reminded me that I had some money coming in a few weeks and if I kept schtum it might still be around. Could I live with the guilt? Course I bloody could!! So I popped over to Cobham tonight and got the baby from a really nice guy called Mal (a friend of Cetera it turns out) for a very keen price and here she is.........

  2.
You would need to stretch your budget, but a s/h Epifani UL310 is a great one cab solution. Really punchy and a one hand carry. Not quite 4ohm but not far off.
Hmm, yeah looking at £500+ by the looks of it. Bit of a stretch. GAS is a bad thing. Looking at a diary load of gigs coming in for next year so need to lighten things up. Reviews say its the dogs doodaas!

  3. I'm currently running the rig below in my profile. I mainly just use the 1x15 on it's own and it stands up well against my band. Now, if I was to get say £300 together what options would I have in the lightweight 4 ohm cab range? I like the bottom end of the 15 but still need a bit of punch ( which the Ashdown has) so I'm also not sure what speaker configuration would still give me that sound if not using a 15.

ETA... as the description above says.......lightweight! The old back don't get any better. Am I being a bit optimistic pricewise?

  4.
Hey guys my Ashdown combo is up for sale. It is in great condition and only gigged 3 times.

You just got to love some of the stuff in the background of pictures! I'm sure I can see an abandoned baby in there somewhere!

    Have a bump!

  5. Ah memories! Went in there, earlyish 90s with a couple of hundred quid looking for a cab and when I mentioned being a Level 42 fan had a £4k ( I think, well it felt like £4k) MK Alembic thrust at me despite me saying I couldn't afford one!

  8. Hey Phil, Colin the fat bastid here. Now I'm pretty seriously overweight and standing up and playing gives me some serious back jip! Now losing weight is an option for me but in the mean time I just said to my band that sometimes in the set I just have to sit down, take it or leave it. They were perfectly fine with it. I got a drum stool that goes up pretty high so I'm not so much sitting on than leaning on (a bar stool might work here) and my Status 5 hardly feels like it's on with a wide comfort strap to help. Different problems I know but I'm sure with a bit of experimentation you can work something out.
    Good luck to ya,
    C.

  9.
Trying to buy a lined fretless neck and every neck I've been offered on here has the side dots between the fretlines, which I find extremely confusing having got used to playing unlined fretless necks which have dots at the fretting position.

Arghhhhh. Why do they do this?

OK, I'm not really asking the question, it's more of a rant :)

    Chris
See where you're coming from here, we were both looking at the same Squire Jazz for sale on the site and this bass has exactly this problem. Now my old JD had no lines but dots on the side ON the fret and that worked for me so like you I'm wondering if one with lines and dots off the frets will work. Obviously a JD is a custom build so maybe that's the way to go, whether by ordering something or looking for something like a JD. Hopefully I'm getting a few bob next month and will be gassing for something, I suppose the best thing to do is try out as much as possible to see if you can cope with the odd dot marking.
