"I think that must be one of the most lethal loads I've ever seen in a car!

The lack of view to the nearside could be equally lethal...."

I think the OP had weighed up whether life was worth living or not when he bought a KA :P

To be fair I used to load up a proper Mini like this years ago.
The front seats tipped forwards pivoting on two bolts which I replaced with two pins with R clips so the passenger seat was 'quick release'. With the seat out I could fit half the PA on the back seat , my big, heavy Peavey amp where the front seat was and loads of other bags in around it all with a couple of basses in hard cases on top of it all.
I had to break hard in a back lane once and one of my basses slid forwards with enough force to push the front screen out (perished screen rubber), the bass slid down the bonnet and I had to embarrassingly get out in front of the car I had stopped for and pick up my windscreen and bass.
The screen was broken but the hard case did it's job.
Moral of the story? Always transport your bass in a hard case :D

I'm sure someone will be along to point out the error in your ways pretty soon!!! :) :)

I understand there's a traffic policeman on this website, I wonder what he'd say about that! :D

There appear to be plenty of traffic police on here judged by some of the driving threads!! :)

  3. Guitarists are strange animals! Ours does a large pub gig at reasonable volume with his cab miked and then does a tiny pub with a hole in the the corner for the band with it cranked up and no PA support!! Thank f*** for decent earplugs, although I'd rather not wear them! The singer doesn't like putting the bass through the PA, she reckons it's blown the powered desk before so I've ended up getting a 500 watt head and 4ohm 800 watt cab to keep up with the buggers!! Actually, I'm only on volume two at the most so it's more than capable!

At a gig last month "if you can play that formula 1 bit, you're a proper bass player and I'll buy you a pint..."

    Worked.

We've done this song from day one, we get comments varying from "can you play it again in memory of my uncle who died at Brands, it was played at his funeral" to "I love the way you put the F1 music at the end of that song!!" Along with Another One Bite the Dust probably one of the most recognisable bass lines ever!!

  5. Don't know how this got into my Facebook photos, I think someone got it from a bootsale for a crappy birthday present many moons ago! I just loved the way there was no room for orchestra!!!

Please bring the red Series 1? It sounds nearly identical to mine which I won't be bringing on account of baggage allowances.

Right, I am definitely going to be able to travel down to this, having arranged to combine with a visit to an old friend in Lightwater on the Friday.

I'll put my name on the list later, as I am just posting from my phone atm. Won't be bringing any gear, just the ol' Fender P in case there's a bit of a jam going on.

Looking forward to catching up with some of you that I haven't seen for a couple of years! :-)

Despite several misgivings during all the rehearsals leading up to it, last night's gig turned out to be a corker. I think I felt like a proper bass player for the first time in the five years since I first started out.

We're a Stones covers band, playing anything from 'Satisfaction' to 'Doom and Gloom'.
Very small venue, packed out with friends, family and regular supporters, so the atmosphere was great. I felt relaxed enough to rock out a bit so it was all really enjoyable

To add interest to the evening, the audience included my Ex, my Boss and the estimable Kev B from BC who has threatened to post a pic or two, so watch this space! :-)

Well done Shell!! It's a good feeling innit!!

  10. A boy came home from his first bass lesson. His dad asked him how it went. "Today we learned the E string."

The boy came home from his second lesson and dad asked him how it went. "Today we learned the A string."

The boy came home from his third lesson. Dad asked, "So did you learn the D string today?"

"Nope. Today I had a gig."

Not so talentless that he couldn't hold down the job for close on forty years.

Not my cup of tea but the idea that he is no more talented than a bag of spanners is ridiculous.

Is that the highly talented guitarist etc from Muse?

My mistake.......I meant bassist Chris Wolstenholme......I read comments such as, he's an ok bass player but I hate the way he nods his head. Personally I think he's an excellent player and I don't see how he looks should influence my opinion. No I don't have links, these are comments I've noticed over the years, Clayton in particular seems to extract the ire from a lot of people, personally I think it's petty jealousy! As I read the tinterweb Bono wrote the lyrics and U2 the music, therefore it seems he (Clayton) has been involved in writing some of the biggest single and album hits over the past 3-4 decades! So many one note 8 to a bar players in famous bands and he gets it in the neck most on here.............strange!
