Could it have been connected across the tweeter to send the low frequencies to ground...maybe glued on the back of the tweeter ? Is that an old glue mark I can see on the back ?
Yes, there appears to be some glue residue on it. But nothing corresponding on the tweeter. There is a tiny bit of wire coming out of either side of the bugger which would stop it sitting flat on anything. Very strange, as I've said there's no discernible problem soundwise.

2. I noticed over the last couple of weeks as I loaded my cab in and out that there was something rattling inside. I could see this little round thing with red wire wrapped around it at the bottom when I looked in the port. Took the rear panel off, reached in and this strange little bugger was in there. Cab has performed as usual, immense, loud and with no obvious fault. Tweeter control is fully functional. Any ideas??

What can I say that hasn't already been said..... apart from to reiterate everything!!
Nik, Colin etc.... thanks for all your hard work and organisation. Alex, Herbie (what a star!) and John - thankyou for sharing your talents and expertise. My fellow bassists - thank you for sharing your equipment, enthusiasm and laughter :)
On a personal note - thanks to Simon for temporarily clearing the fog in my brain re: compression! lol!

I didn't come away with any GAS.... but I did come away with a renewed enthusiasm for my instrument and respect for my fellow bassists :)

Best time I've had in a while..... and best value for money in ages! Cheers to all and here's to the next one!

As long as you've got more than one knob Simon is the go to man for compression!!

More bassface from our very own Chunky Munky!!

5. Amazing day! Got to meet a hero of mine, John "Rhino" Edwards, a fellow Status player with his own signature bass. He had a little go on mine but I think 5 strings were a bit much for him!! He seemed amazed that I remembered him playing a Status in the 80s with Judie Tzuke who I saw many times. Got to like his playing back then!
Herbie, wow, what a character, so engaging and entertaining, a massive big up to the organisers for sorting that one.
John Bentley!! Again very entertaining and listening to all those Squeeze chord changes he had his work cut out!
Then a certain Darren Redick appeared, so now Basschat is famous on Planet Rock!! Top man!! Nice Spector!!
And of course the ever tall Dave Swift and his lovely girlfriend Lucy, both charming, she could be his dep at some point!!
Too many old and new friends to mention, massive thanks to Nik and Colin for the organising, Mrs Hamster for the catering!!
Special mention for Chunky Munky, he nearly bought my old Status but delighted me with his enthusiasm for all things bass, as I said to him in a message earlier, he looked like a kid in a candy store!! 😀

Just coming down from the day, got in from a cracking gig tonight about half hour ago! Full on weekend, gigs Friday and Saturday with Bash in between!! Going to be a good lay in this morning, on a downside yes I'm a Chelsea boy too so that's the only bad bit, it's only a game, bass is far more important!!

6. Old Status added!

7. They did make him meatloaf, looked lush!! He didn't look or sound too good to be honest, slurring a bit and had that vacant look of a man much older than his 68 years. Was pretty amusing though (not his slurring or look I hasten to add, just some of the things he said) Shame, I'm not much of a fan but can appreciate the body of work he's done and the amount of albums he's sold.

It's a thought, but I reckon I would wear out my welcome in anyone's motor. Worst case I expect and unbendable leg... could be tricky in a car full of gear... a roof rack might have potential!

Shouldn't be a problem!!!

I've been using this head for the last few month and have to say it sounds great.

It's the later Peavey head with all the bells and whistles. I use it with everything engaged. Drive, compression pre shape etc and it spits out a wonderful clanky crunch.

As this head is getting on a bit I was wondering what else is available that could offer up a similar racket.

I'm thinking maybe an Ampeg svt pro 3 but have yet to actually try one. I did have a Ashdown evo 111 but it didn't quite have the attack. I also own an Ashdown Ctm 100 but that's way to nice for my current requirements so will be for the chop if I can find a TE replacement.

Any recommendations?

Cheers

If it ain't broke don't fix it!! Many a person on here has regretted selling an older(not that old)amp thinking something else will give them the same mojo!!
