1.
Ahhh, I went to see the bluetones once. They were really good, and I think I bought a CD which would have had similar art on (or the same thing?). I doubt i'd be able to find it though.
i think every cover they did since 'luxembourg' has been scotts (in a feeble attempt to get back on topic, he's the bass player :)) work. the artwork we have up here is mostly from album and singles covers:

sorry for the naff pictures, had to take with my phone, and its very sunny today.
Knitting is apparently theraputic. I personally imagine it's as stressful as an old computer game that can't be saved at any point e.g Sonic where you get so close to the end and then die one too many times - 'cos I think with knitting you have to keep going without "dropping a stitch".
we managed to go from a bassbash meeting in nottingham, to knitting. impressive, i think.

  3.
google pointy sticks and you just get knitting fan-sites! How boring.

about your avatar - would I have seen that before somewhere? I think I recognise it but not sure.
knitting. now there is something i don't understand on SO many levels.

re: avatar - you may have. its by scott morriss of the bluetones. i think it was on a single cover. i have a lot of his artwork up on the walls here.

  4.
To be honest I was joking,
you were?
I didn't notice your avatar - you're obviously into your pointy sticks. Maybe you could bring yours anyway? Do you have a link to a pointy stick online boutique?
mmmmm!

if only they came complete! 5,000 candy apples!
alas there is no boutique yet, but i can feel a business opportunity coming on...

actually, we do have a stick thing going on here, as my bro and i both study aikido. i'm harmless. honest.
i only just realised my avatar has a jabby stick on, maybe i need to address this unconscious pattern i have?

i'll be bringing my Sterling and Ampeg B-100R to the event, even if it takes me all day to get it in the car.

sure, it would be good to try out other peoples pointy sticks, y'know. i've been dying to try out one of those custom-made ones with LEDs...

  6.
~will there be anyone there who i've pissed off? And how likely are you to administer a beating?
well there is time yet...

how likely to administer a beating? beating is so 2007. i'm more into jabbing with some kind of sharp stick.

re: taitycaster - wooop! can't wait to see that! :)

OG, was great to meet you too! not exactly sure where i'm going to keep all the mags. they are still in the car at the moment!

re: GAS, like the bout of it yesterday in the bass gallery wasn't bad enough!?
i... could pay my ex back that money i owe him... but i could just... i mean, he'd hardly notice it's missing...

  10. what an awesome day/weekend.

just got back now after a further adventure to london and a visit to the bass gallery. which was eventful enough in itself!

definitely going to make the effort to take my gear down next time! (felt a little sorry for my bass left at home with no-one playing it. and i don't think i saw another sterling there, either.)
some idiot very nearly smashed into me on the motorway on the way back up - if they had have hit me where they were headed towards before i elegantly sashayed out of the way (then less-than-elegantly let them know what i thought of them in the form of a barrage of gestures) the bass would probably have been trashed, so thats something. also very glad my car shifts, or i'd have been telling a very different story right now!

it was also pretty cool to hear comments about my hitchhikers thumbs that weren't "oh my god, your thumbs are so weird - ewwww, gross". see, i knew i'd fit in with them somewhere, some day. so thanks for that!

highlights for me were generally meeting everyone, and perhaps those of you i didn't get to chat to much this time, i'll get next time around :). the meal afterwards was really great, hopefully next time more of us can stay for dinner.

as a fledgeling bassist, it was amazing to have the opportunity to watch some incredible playing, and try so many gorgeous basses out myself. thankyou to everyone for that.

oh, and the sandwiches.... the SANDWICHES!

cheers for the magazines, too. hope my new bookshelves arrive soon .

looking forward to the next time!

i'm wondering how wrong it would be for me to get a t-shirt like that for myself!
although i do know a lot of other bass players so i might get away with it :)

    hello and welcome, maxcat!

  12.
I understand. I have Mark Bass head with a yellow and black colour combo, which matches my Epifani cab with a yellow and black colour combo, which matches my Warwick Rockbag with a yellow and black colour combo, and also matches my rucksack in which I carry my stuff... in a yellow and black combo. Though I swear only the first two were intentional. :)
maaaan, that stuff would look SO good next to my car.

  13.
Hey Mewsie, welcome to the forums from a reasonably close neighbour (just the other side of the Humber Bridge.) After all the talk of tea, cake, biscuits & VAT this may sound anally retentive, but what bass gear do you have? :)
*waves*

I have a MM Sterling and a rather fetching Ampeg B-100R which I just succumbed to buying cause it sounds brilliant, but, the fact that it looked gorgeous played a big part in the decision. I am shallow, I admit it. Well, something like that needs to fit in with the decor, right? Right?

I also have a Legacy acoustic which was an unexpected deposit towards an artwork commission (which I still need to finish), and my Vintage bass which might not be fancy but was my first bass and I still love it.

Also have various guitars and small amps etc dotted about the place. And some bongos. They have red stripes on.

  14. hey!

i felt i had to say hello as a) its polite anyway and B ) i was just telling a story about a visit to finland to a large group of people, then i nip on here and see your thread.

    i adore finland!
i am yet to observe a moose, though, and could get heavily into deep and meaningful questions about whether the moose actually exists if it isn't observed.. anyways, im going back over there in a few weeks, hopefully, so maybe i'll see one then!

by the way, i am now up to 12 times that a finn has yelled 'LORDI' at me in replacement for normal conversation. (i REALLY need to learn some finnish and more swedish!)

erm.. anyway! the finland thing was just spooky is all. the universe told me to reply!

good luck with selling the basses, i shall return to my story now!
