1. yes i do still have it. its a vintage something-or-other.

it cost me £229 i think, from a little shop in chorley, lancs.

i'd just been suspended from work for something really, really dumb, totally legal and ethical, totally above board, so i was feeling a thousand and one emotions all at once, generally feeling pretty low. so i decided as i was feeling low i might as well play that way and decided to buy my first bass.

i got home all excited and happy, turned on the tv just as the reports were coming in of the first plane having flown into the twin towers. i'll never forget that day!

  2. on a sort-of-related note...

i've just developed a ganglion on my left wrist (again) had quite a few over the years, but luckily always during periods when i wasn't playing much. they appeared for about 6 months then just went away.

now i am playing a couple of hours a day, and this thing is really making it uncomfortable, and restricting how long i can play for, and making everything far more difficult than it should be.

any experience with this, and any advice?

  3. wooo! hello and welcome.

i certainly found that investing in a beautiful awesome bass encouraged me to play more, i struggle to put the thing down these days.

    enjoy the forum

(ps: i like your band name)

  5. hey, welcome to the forum!

i'm still burrowing through the vast quantities of knowledge already on the board, so i'm pretty sure you'll learn loads by being part of the happy basschat family. welcome to bass, let us know how you get on :)

  8. bah.

still haven't worked out what's important about the 29th (other than the bass meet, of course :)) but i can't make it during the day anyway as i am working. will be finished work at around 4 though, so could certainly meet everyone in the afternoon/evening?
what are everyones plans for then?

  9. well, i loved my old bass tutor. he looked like Tobey Maguire, wore odd socks and had a selection of teas.

i learn pretty quick, and felt lessons were going way too slowly for me, so i stopped having them. which is now frustrating me even more.

so, i'm looking for someone with a wide range of tastes, skills, and styles who will work well with my whimsical nature and push me forward.

i'm available most days and evenings, and am looking for someone who is flexible enough for a lesson to be at different times each week. and probably someone who will call me to make me book a lesson, as i tend to forget that bit.

i'm a good student and i promise to make you proud!

  10. for some reason the 29th June is ringing a bell somewhere in the deepest darkest corners of my mind that says that day is significant. if i don't remember what the other thing is, or it turns out not to require my attendance anywhere, i'm in. joining me will be the MM sterling for sure, and possibly some other stuff if i can force it in the mini without injuring myself (or the mini)

    looking forward to it!

(just gotta remember what the 29th is all about)

  11.
a friend was over helping me make hilarious laser noises. :)
how fabulous!

being single, i don't really have this problem.
i did manage to make my ex storm out of my house tonight by choosing to play bass over him whinging about, well, something. (i couldn't hear, i was playing the bass over it). he was getting so very tiresome.

i live with my brother and he is guitarist in our band, so there is usually general musicness going on at our place. we even created a 'leaving the house' tune i play him out with. splendid.
