Damn it… thanks all… perhaps it worth the initial outlay then. 

Looking for what people are using in 2023. My last unit was the Line 6 G75. Which was great and didn’t give me any problems. Looks like they’ve been ditched by L6. The rest of the range seems high prices for old tech. 

Don’t really want to stretch to the Shure units, even though I know they’re great. So potentially looking at the Boss WI50, as the 60 isn’t available. 
Pros look to be, pedal seized receiver that is solid and compact, good battery life, low latency. 
 

is there anything else worth considering for under £250?

Yep, feels silly, but sit down. I did 6 weeks of gigging in a cast about 7 years ago. Wasn’t all bad, I was excused from load in/out! One of the gigs was a NYE party and that was a bit frustrating, but needs must.

Up for sale is this fantastic light weight, heavy sounding setup!

I’ve owned this since new, and have gigged it  z e r o  times!
 

It’s great, I’ve used it for 3 rehearsals and about the house. It’s tight, focused, versatile and loud. 
In fact, I was saying to a BC buddy yesterday, it sounds better and produces a low B better than rigs that have cost me 3 times as much. 
Just, I’m a Helix guy. I wanted this as an option, and as great as it is, it’s just not going to be used. It is in my kids room/my office and I need the space back. 
 

Condition is as new. Cab has a Roqsolid cover and amp has the official Ashdown case. Can also include a nice heavy gauge speakon cable.

That’s incredible if accurate! Wonder why they’re so limited. The one I nearly snapped up was a white 2024x. Mark at BD told me it went as soon as it was live on the website. I missed it by about 10 mins. 

There was a run of 2024/5 with maple fretboards. No ideas on the ratio produced, but I’ve only ever seen one come up for sale and by the time I’d called the shop to buy it, it had sold.

Act Like You Know is such a cool bass line. Good song choices, both great parts! Bass sounds nice. 

As an update to my earlier post about acquiring a 735a… it seemed to develop an issue with the preamp and was very noisy, and has therefore been returned. In the meantime, a BB P35 came up for £200 or so more than the 735a cost, so that’s now mine. 

back to back, they’re very different beasts. The 735a was great to play and the preamp offered quite a lot of options, all usable. But, the P35 is a different thing. In short, it just feels different, like a good example of a vintage Fender that has been played, no frills, but something special. Hard to describe, but it’s just there. 
The 735a to me was an entirely different flavour. They share some hardware, but aesthetics aside, weren’t similar to me at all. Both great in different ways, but the P35 has a bit of magic about it. 

I love both for what they bring. The P35 is wonderful for me, simplistic but near perfect playability. Maybe not as much character and slightly more “modern” sounding (?). I can see how you might yearn for something else if you’re coming from a 2025. 
Great time to own a nice 2025, they’re seemingly pretty hard to come by now. 
I sold my P35, needs must at the time but purchasing a 735a has reminded me that it really worked for me and I’ll likely have another at some point. 

Mine would probably be my Yamaha P35. Easily replaceable if you have the money though. 
The instrument I miss most sentimentally is a PRS CU24. More than wanting them back, I’m more curious to know where old instruments are now. I know one is in France and another the USA!

My 735a arrived yesterday. First impressions are really favourable. There are a lot of useable sounds and the preamp seems great, useable and subtle, which suits someone that generally leans towards passive basses. The blend is great between pickups and a very slight bias toward the P pickup gives me what I’m after. 
The neck pocket isn’t as tight as my BBP35, or quite as well finished. Nor is the fretboard as nice of a slab of wood. But, that is fault finding and entirely expected. The pickups and bridge are superb and the matte black finish is very well done; in actual fact it is probably better than my Sandberg was. 
I forgot how flat the fingerboards were on them, but I don’t mind that and it was very easy to set up. 
It looks “sexy”, according to the other half. Feels great and is going to suit any gig. Not much to complain about, really.

I’m hoping the 735a is enjoyable in its own right. The BBP35 certainly had something special didn’t it? If only it weighed a touch less. I always really enjoy a passive bass that feels alive. The build and craftsmanship was undeniable too and the neck was perfect. I think the 735a shares components (?) so while it may not have the same magic, hopefully it feels X% of the way there. 

I just bought my little RM rig home. RM EVO II 500w and 2x10. Sold it a year ago and the need for an amp and cab has just resurrected itself. Funnily enough, the person who bought it listed it a few days ago, used once in the year, along with my old Roqsolid cab cover, Ashdown amp bag and cables, £400. 
Bit his hand off to get it back and have been pleasantly reminded of what a fantastic setup this is. 

I’ve got a 735a incoming, should be here tomorrow. Chosen as the BBP35 I owned was probably my favourite bass, and was regrettably sold. Looking forward to seeing how they compare!

I’m looking at the 5 string version. My last P bass was an Am Pro, which was fantastic. I’m a Sire fan, so be keen to see how they stack up. The Sire is significantly less expensive, but my V5 was cheaper than the Sadowsky it was supposed to play second fiddle to as well…

Bought new from a retailer a few months ago, has been used a couple of times in the house, but never even seen a rehearsal, let alone a gig!

I’ve since purchased the Ashdown carry case too, which was 2nd hand, but in great condition. 
 

Selling as I fancied an amp, but actually have very little use for it. 

It sounds superb, as you’d imagine and has a few really usable features; compressor, overdrive, sub and a headphone out.  Also, the VU meter changes colour when it’s muted!
