...wants a description of the geddy lee style jazz neck, the precision neck is often described as wide and shallow while the standard jazz neck is described as deeps but still slim...
...
...
...
so based on this, i would describe the geddy lee neck (and other necks of a similar style) to be shallow and slim, ridiculously easy to plsy - to the point other basses feel loaaaaaaaaaads weirder. -
i had some old live rage videos, and he had an SWR rig like SJA says
-
i never ever give the soundguy a pre eq signal, i love my tone.
-
bump, i cant remember which recordings i had up when i posted this link, they might be the same ones or the ones we got done at our last gig.
He's in the process of moving the workshop at the moment. So he might not get round to a speedy response, but he's been a busy boy! Not seen anything of the Doodle though when I've been down there recently

That sounds well cool.
Excuse my ignorance, but what will it actually do?
On a side note, I've totally fallen in love with the shape you're going for, got a sweet idea for a short scale bass based on it, next year though, next year....
Cheers,

When i hold down the button, it'll output noise - it has photoresistors attached and the brighter the light that shines into them; the higher the pitch. -
a quick update, i'll be getting a light sensitive oscillator synth jobby built into the body of my bass, with controls on the lower horn.

I think i have loads of the tri ones about - i've pretty much changed to smaller picks so if i find them would you like them?
and can i take these lovely lads off your hands? -
these are the most comfortable necks ive ever played, my shuker build is having a neck with the same dimensions.
-
yeah, im really looking forward to it, getting it done with dual darkstar pickups.
-
i've got a shuker being built with the jet king body shape.
i love the kind of vintage pawn shop vibe it gives off, -
are both sold?
It may be a daft idea, but you could put lines on with a felt tipped pen, and then decide whether you still need them a few months down the road.
would they wash off? -
if only it had lines - i'd be all over that.
an unlined fretless is hell
can you get them lined? -
the squier is a top runner at the moment - i've just been a bit put off by its looks, might see if i can double sided tape a pickguard to it.
in an ideal world, it would be black/tort - but i dont think thatll happen. -
My girlfriend has said she'll buy me a fretless bass, im currently looking at that lake placid blue SX jazz on rondomusic, but was just wondering what else is out there?
the squir VM one should do the trick but i just dont like the jaco-esque look to it. -
Nice - black / tort will look fantastic on that body shape. Looking forward to seeing pics!
Yeah, should look something like this:
i can't wait - i love the look of it. -
converse and thin pumps are ace pedal shoes.

takeshi uses the digitech whammy II, same chip as in the old whammy wh1.
for his distortion sounds - you need a p bass with newish strings and preferably a pearce bc1 pre amp, this is what takeshi has used for pretty much every mcm record, i used to copy the PARK album tone with this setup as it's my favourite.
if you want any more help with takeshi's stuff add me on msn, ive gone over all his stuff in mega detail.
