1. Ok, i've been toying with trading this bass since i got it. I'm not desperate to trade it tbh so not really bothered whether i end up keeping it or not.

So, about the bass, i'm going to try and be as honest as possible. This bass was made on May 28th of 2004 by Chris Benavente and Brian Barrett. It was a prototype of the now, Lowend Jazz Bass. Being a prototype, some things have changed according to Brian, such as minor neck shape and pick-up placement.

It has an alder body, 3 piece maple neck and a Brazilian rosewood board.
    Its has a 34" scale.
The body has a Lake Placid Blue finish. This finish is a pearlescent kind of finish which is really hard to get a picture of.
It has custom Kent Armstrong J pickups and either a Benavente 3 band preamp.
It has a Hipshot "A" Type Bridge & Hipshot Ultralite Tuners.

The sound from this bass is awsome, all down to the custom pickups.

The Neck/truss rod doesn't have enough relief on it if you play heavy strings, but as i use medium/light strings i've never had a problem with the neck "issues". To be honest, i'd take this statement with a pinch of salt as i'm yet to experience any problems and only posted this as advice from a previous owner!

The bass plays really really well and i have taken it on a mini tour and taken it into the studio. I'm still waiting to get the recordings back but if this bass is still here when i get them, i'll post some sound clips.

If there is anything else you may want to know, just let me know and i'll try answer you questions.

I'm not sure how to value this bass so i emailed Brian Barrett and he said its worth about $1600-$1800 resale, so whats that, about £1100 average.

  3.
Good to hear a positive spin on things Jake.. Are idlewild still a going concern themselves?
Idlewild are still going strong, they're having a break atm as roddy is having a baby!
Good to hear a success story.

How did you find him or did he find you?
A bit of both really, His Step-mum worked at our school giving singing lessons, then she started giving me and our main singer lessons. Were friends with his sister aswel so he knew about us already!

  4. I couldn't be happier with my manager

We've got a kinda weird management deal though, its in two parts with two guys.
We've got one guy, local to us, almost like a 5th member of the band. We've known him for years and he's a musician himself.
Other guy is Rod Jones from idlewild, but he lives all the way up in edinburgh! Everything goes through all of us and we all have to agree on things ot they don't happen.
Since management, we've got major label interest, a supports tour, and another one coming, played live on the radio, had music on the radio, got a radio plugger, lawyer.

Management couldn't have gone better for us!

  5. I\'ve considered one of these in the past

just to keep kids hands of my amp :)

Although i usually lend my amp at gigs, its pretty much, you break it, you pay for it. Always need asking before hand. If they start clipping it or red lining it i have nothing stopping me just getting up on stage and turning it down, I\'ve done it before and i\'ll do it again!

  6.
I'd like this and can muster up £300 for it, but I'm based in Bristol, so will need some way of postage/delivery/collection help.

Unfortunately, I ride a motorbike, so won't be able to collect!

    Ideas?
The cab can be sent by courier but i'll have to get some quotes?

If you want me to get some, just let me know.

    Cheers

    Jake
