Wow! 4kgs would be light for an ash-bodied 4-string, let alone a 6er. (Unless it's swamp ash, of course.)
-
Good point! I did nearly add 'earplugs' to my 'what I will be bringing' list ...

Haha, I've seen them before and am going again next Saturday (If I can persuade anyone to come with me, it's a bit 'niche')
I didn't feel TOO intimidated last time :-D Have a good one

Love Sleaford Mods. Love those chugging P-bass lines.
Note for the easily offended: sweary lyrics incoming!

Hi FlopalotapusBass, and welcome to BC!
It depends what you mean by 'extremely complex bass parts'. I'm no Hadrien Feraud, but neither of the songs you suggest seems particularly complex to me - there are thousand upon thousands of songs that have far more tricky bass parts than these. Also, if (as you say) you are are doing a solo piece, why not choose a proper solo bass piece, i.e. one that does not require a backing track? The obvious-to-the-point-of-cliche choice here would be 'Portrait of Tracy'.
But if it really is a choice between the two songs you mention, then I agree with chris b - 'Time Won't Wait' wins it by a country mile.
Anyway, good luck with it! -

If you are changing over to guitar after being a bass player you'll have to forget everything you've ever learned about keeping a reasonable volume level and playing for the benefit of the whole band, not just for yourself!

how true!
Killa lookin bass. No wonder sale already pending. -
Sighs wistfully ...

Folks here are giving you excellent advice, not flaming you! -
Gorgeous bass! And no doubt a killer tone to match. Can't see this hanging around long.

Didn't think this beauty would hang around at that price. Cracking looking bass!
Thanks! Yes indeed - already feeling pangs of regret! -
Sold pending the usual.
-
Dunno anything about the B3 but I have an old Zoom 708II bass multi effects processor and it's ace fun - cheap and cheerful, surprisingly wide range of good sounds, very tweakable, and built like a tank.

Underpriced I think.

Possibly so, but these are tough times and I'm after a quick sale. -

Cant follow the link to the original sale thread?
Oh crap! Seems to be a dead link now. Maybe Andy deleted it? Anyway, sorry about that, but thanks for letting me know. -

Best jazz colour way no doubt. Drooooolllllllll!

Thanks! Yes, my fave colour combo, too - already starting to question the wisdom of selling it! -

I'm a new BC seller so don't have a seller feedback page for you yet, but it may help to know that I bought this bass from Basschat stalwart Phsycoandy in Sept 2012 - the original ad is still viewable here:
http://basschat.co.u...udes-hard-case/
[EDIT: this link now seems to be defunct - sorry about that, and thanks to 'thebuckets' for pointing this out.]
As can be seen from the photos (and as mentioned in the previous ad), it has a few bumps, dents and dings, but these are not easily visible while playing and have absolutely no bearing on quality or playability. On the contrary, it's a lovely player - I treated it to a pro set up courtesy of the excellent Andy at Guitar Spares and Repairs here in Birmingham shortly after buying it, so action is now super low and really easy to play. In all other respects it is exactly the same as when I bought it - in fact it has never even left the house, let alone been gigged, since the day it arrived. Which is a shame, really, as it sounds proper awesome.
Weight is just over 9lbs, so right in the sweet spot for a Jazz. It comes with the fantastic SKB Fender hard case and all the tools, and it has a fresh set of 45-105 nickel roundwounds on.
£525 couriered to your door, or £500 if you come and pick up in person. BCers are of course welcome to come to South Birmingham to try before buying.
I'm happy to post overseas, but postage costs will be higher, and you will have to sort out your own insurance arrangements.
Payment by cleared bank transfer or cash on collection only.
No trades, please. -
Correct decision, Hutton! As Steff says, it would be nice to have 2x2, but if you only have one J and one P, and want some versatility in your sounds, then I would always put roundwounds on the Jazz, and flats on the Precision.
Nickel roundwounds, right? -
Entlrely agree with posts above - the 'new' SKB case (if the rumours are correct) is going to have to be very, very good indeed to beat the 'old' one.
SOld.
