+1 for anything by Deep Purple but particularly Made In Europe, a live album with Glenn Hughes playing funky heavy rock with a Rickenbacker. Not just great playing but great tone too.
+2. And he nails backing vox at the same time. -
i might just flog it cheap as repairable-if anyone's interested-& buy an ampeg cab.
You just wanted to get an Ampeg rig under the missus radar dintcha mush? And fair play too. -
Bump. With a brand new battery, too.
Dunlops are good but if they fail you're screwed, seriously screwed. With the schaller design if the lock fails then at least the strap button is sitting in a support cup and won't allow your bass to simply plummet to the deck.
Absolutely true. Unless the cup has turned upside down due to the nut coming loose. I might just go back to Grolsch tops & gaffa... -
Nice noodling Machines! Off to the shop for me then...

I use Dunlops in preference to Schallers, 'cos I find the nuts (fnarr) on the Schallers come undone and I worry about the strap coming off. The bloke who runs the e-shop is a nice chap too.
Good luck, John. -
So, I've gone all MultiComp in the search for compression rather than limiting, leaving me with a mint condition 5-month old LMB-3 that has become surplus to requirements. And yes, the photo is crap, sorry.
Yours for £40 delivered. Any q's, please ask....
Ta, John.
why do the people with no money get all this luck?
I thoroughly agree - I just thought about buying a Bacchus Jazz 5er, the boiler packed in then the coil springs and head gasket went in the motor. Final cost - just slightly more than the Bacchus would have been.
Good luck with the Trace Kev
John -
Bought an EBS MultiComp from Dave and a nice smooth transaction it was.

And they look like posh cars. Brucey.
So I strongly believe that if you added another matching cab to your rig you'd be able to get the 'warm' bottom you want.
In the meantime, try to use the room acoustics in your favour by taking advantage of wall or corner reinforcement wherever possible.

+1. Eg - I have a 2x10 combo that doesn't quite cut it live - the volume is there, but no "fullness" - now there's a word. When I add another 2x10, it fills the room, even at the same perceived volume level. Oh, and it's an ABM! And indeed - chuck it in the corner!
If I bought a bass online, I would hope that its new, ie not been in some other blokes house or at his rehearsal.
I have the same issue with my missus.
1 - Flogging the 100w Marshall Super bass stack I had in the 80's. For a Peavey / Sunn rig.
2 - Not buying the Carl Thompson with the Wal electrics for £2k on the 'bay a few months ago. Anyone got it? Wanna sell? -
Yummy. Sell summat else and put it on the wall
-
Lead through strap? - Schmap! Contrasting gaffa tape, thats what you need. And plenty of it. Preferably nicked off the drummer.
Luvverly jubberly. -
I like to think of Ashdown as a bit like the Alfa Romeo of the bass world .
There speaks an Alfisti! I have had no problems with my ABM EVOII combo or cab, but I bet I've put a bloody curse on it now! Me Alfasud however, was on the whole, a pile of sh*te! Except both times it worked.
