1.
Unfortunately, i don't think we'd have the option of putting anything in the cabin since in addition to my two basses there will be 2 guitars and 2 keyboards. I doubt there'd be enough cabin room for all that.
There's your answer - gits, keys and their owners in the hold, leaving room for bass on plane. Sorted.

  2. So, I've got a D-tuner and I want to tighten the tuning key up to make it more rigid. Fnarr. Is it a standard imperial or metric size? Is it f***. :) Any ideas what the size is and where I might be able to get one anyone? Er, by Saturday morning!

I thank you in advance, John.

  3.
So that's nearly five hours at the venue, plus all the carting around of kit, to get 30 minutes of rushed stage time. After several hours of practising new tracks, only one of the three we played from the set list was new.
All for an Ayrton. Brucie. :)

  4.
Aye, they have. It's weird, I was 17 then...SEVENTEEN!!!! or 16, can't remember :)
You old gits - I was a mere 15! ;)

  5.
Perfect Strangers is a great album, I was lucky enough to get tickets at the reunion in Knebworth in 85, I feel really old now  Weird thing is all I can remember is Meatloaf with his broken leg, the mud, Mamas Boys (anyone remember them!) Scorpions and the fact that Blackmore's guitar sound blew me away, oh, and the laser effects. UFO rings a bell too.
Blackfoot & Mountain. Hmmm, Blackfoot tribute band, hmmm... :)

  6.
I've never liked ashdown gear, every show i've played with one, its sounded muddy and wooley, between the two, hartke definitely.
Conversely, I find Hartke gear tinny & thin compared to Ashdown (lets stick together on this one, Machines), but that might just be the alu cones. The only way is to try some mate, ideally A/Bing them at proper volume in a sound room. Or just buy an Ashdown. :)

  7.
I have procells just because I get them from central TV for free - they seem fine....
That reminds me, there's something I must bring home from work tomorra... :)

  8. I can honestly say that I am currently in remission from GAS with regards to my sound. I love all my current kit, it works together beautifully and the best bit believe it or not, has to be the Geddy Lee with the Wizard 84's and a series / parallel switch - I just love the noise it makes. Or does the compressor make it sound that way? Or is it the preamp valve?

Oh, the D-tuner should arrive by the end of the week. With the pedal PSU.

I hereby rescind my initial statement. GAS is like piles. Or herpes - a friend for life.

  9.
I've recently got involved with a Purple covers band
You lucky sod.
am I right in thinking that the solo is actually distorted bass? ( hope so  )
I believe so. You lucky sod.

Let me know if you break any limbs and need a stand-in... :) It's only a few hours in the car.

    John.

And this chap is jolly good too.

  11.
Hey guys,

Im looking into getting a compressor to even out my tone live. Is there anyone who lives in Sheffield or nearby where I can try it out (possibly borrow) in my rehearsels with the band so I can get a real feel for it. I am very reliable!
Thanks guys - would appreciate your help,

    Josh
I've got a mint Boss LMB-3 Limiter / Enhancer you can have for £40 posted with a new battery. That's got to be cheaper than the fuel to go and try one out, surely? Certainly would be if you were going to drive down here to test it! :)

    John.
