Hey Chris,

Thanks for a great read. Belated welcomes then!

I envy that you live so close to Leamington - where the toy shop is.

As to late blooming, I can relate. Was almost 24 when I started at music college, and happily really got to experience what some extra maturity (personalitywise and musicwise) can give you for free where others will strive. Go for it and good luck on the way!

    best,

That means an awful lot, thank you, Bert. :)

    And thank you Chris. :)

  2. Hello! I've been a member on Basschat for a while, and haven't actually introduced myself properly, so here it goes.

My names Chris, I'm 22 years old and from Birmingham. I've was lucky enough to be naturally gifted at music and learning theory and other instruments, but it wasn't until I found the bass guitar about two years ago that I found the dedication to stick at it. My first bass was a Yamaha RBX 170 and it was great fun for me, but I soon had my sights set on other things.

I'm a big fan of power and prog' metal and was quickly yearning for a 5 string. Unfortunately, there were problems following my first purchase of an Ibanez BTB 575 (and man, I did love that bass) so roll on to about a month ago and I'm now the chuffed owner of an Ibanez Prestige 4005e. All the money I paid for it was earnt by myself, slowly, over the period of a few months (which makes it all the more special for me!) and I purchased the bass from a fellow BC'er. It's the only bass I've ever played that felt comfortable to me straight away, but the Ibanez Soundgear's really are lovely instruments and you can't get better than a Prestige!

I currently work part-time at my local newsagents but soon hope to attend college to study Music further (I'm what my mum calls a 'late bloomer'...) and take it to another level.

    See you around!

    :D

  3. Pictured below is my Snowball USB Mic that's for sale. Blue are a reputable company that make great USB mics and are extremely popular amongst the vlogging YouTube community, but its musical applications (especially vocals) are great as well. See YouTube for demos. The mic is brushed aluminium and is in virtually new condition, hence the price. The RRP on these is just under £90 and the shock mount's RRP is just under £45. I purchased this new with the intention to use it, but with a fairly good headset and accessible XLR inputs on my interface, this isn't getting used at all.

Price is £75 delivered anywhere in the UK. Payment via PayPal is preferred.

Only things i'm interested in from trades are TC Electronic Pedals, especially a Polytune or other vocal microphone or mic gear, but if you're tempted by this then feel free to drop me a PM with other trade offers anyway as I might not want something until I see it!

Three Different Recording Pattern Modes for Versatile Recording

Using Blue Microphone's proprietary dual-capsule technology, the Snowball can record a wide range of situations. Its multiple pattern capability makes it an ideal choice for recording music, podcasts, Skype conversations, and live chat. Depending on what kind of sound you are recording, you can choose from three distinct pattern modes:

Cardioid mode: Well-suited to podcasts, sung vocals, and other voice work, cardioid mode records sound sources that are directly in front of the microphone. It delivers a rich, full-bodied sound.

Cardioid mode with -10 dB PAD: The same as cardioid mode, except with a -10 dB attenuation that helps you capture louder sounds with higher fidelity.

Omnidirectional mode: Omnidirectional mode picks up sound equally from all directions. It is best used in situations when you want to capture the ambience of "being there"--like a live recording of a band's performance.

Innovative Design Makes Recording Easy

With a visual design inspired by classic recording equipment, the Snowball's stylish, retro aesthetic will complement any computer system. Its metal grille and frame recall the look of old-timey microphones.
The Snowball comes with an adjustable tripod that lets you position the microphone in relation to the sound source, improving sound quality. It also features an LED indicator, which glows red when the microphone is powered.
     Hassle-Free Setup

The Snowball requires no complicated drivers to operate; simply plug it into your computer's USB port with the included USB cable, calibrate the microphone with your operating system, and you're ready to record.
The microphone is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP (Home and Professional), and Mac OS X (10.4.11 or higher), and requires a minimum of 64 MB of RAM.

  4. I own the Prestige 4005E and just wanted to say that Ibanez's high end basses are just amazing. I've always been a fan of them and after finding myself being able to afford one, waited and waited for the right one to come along and it was well worth it. £700 is an absolute steal for such a beautiful and well made bass.

  5. Hi guys. I've been told that this kind of damage is quite easy to repair, but i'm not too sure. The bass is stained a black colour and I believe the finish on it is quite thin (it's an Ibanez Prestige 4005E 'Transparent Black' finish). Does anyone have any experience in repairing this kind of damage that can help me? Thanks. :)
