  1. Many thanks for the clarification. I'm in the market for a new head but I'm a bit out of touch with new developments, haven't looked for a new head for some years.
  2. Hi, Can I just clear something up here? It says on the packaging that it's a DB500 head, but it looks as if it's a DB Foundry head - more controls? Don't they have the designation DBF500? Which one is it please?
  3. Thanks Mikan, do you use steel or nickel Elixirs?
  4. Can I just throw something in the mix here which is very much on topic, but also a bit off it? I've used Elixirs exclusively for years, both steel and nickel. Confession: I didn't realise they did both steel and nickel until this year! I put a set of medium/light steels on a new Vintera Telecaster and it sounds awful. Now I have the dilemma I don't know if it's the bass or the strings. I bought them from an Amazon supplier I'd used before, and they weren't dirt cheap, so not obvious fakes? But being fake would explain the poor sound? Bit lifeless, strong mids but poor top and bottom and no power? £45 or so is quite an expense, should I get some D'Addarios or something like that just to see if it's the strings? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  5. Thanks for the suggestion. True the T900 doesn't have the bass boost, I'd have to upgrade to a 1000 for that. They're just under £1,200 new or thereabouts.🤪 I know nothing about EBS other than watching a couple of Eich head reviews which mention them. I'll have a look.
  6. Thanks, my backup amp is the Puma 900! It doesn't have the bass boost though?
  7. Hi, I'm a long term member here but been inactive for a few years as basically I've been happy with my rig and basses and not had any GAS! My go to head is a Tecamp Puma 1000 which I use with two Barefaced 1x12 cabs. The head played up a few years ago and would just cut out. I ended up sending it back to Tecamp but even they couldn't sort it out. I eventually got it repaired by a tec in the North East (I live North West) and it's been fine since.....until last week when it did the same thing. Everything remains lit etc, just the signal disappears (or in this case didn't even appear when the amp was switched on). So I think I've got to the time where I have to think about replacing it. There's nothing worse than your amp failing half way through a song, it's just so unprofessional. The only thing is I have no idea what to get to replace it? I don't use any pedals, my style is finger and I play a Precision and a Ric. Classic sounds depending on the songs....mainly covers, but I do write and record with an originals band, but that tends to be DI'd. What are you using.....I know sound/tone is a personal thing, I particularly liked the bass boost on the Tecamp as you could get solid bottom end without being mega loud. We usually play with just back line, it doesn't usually go through a p.a. (pub/club gigs etc). Grateful for any suggestions, thank you.
  8. Hi, I wondered if anyone has experience of these basses and can tell me where they sit in terms of tone and playability compared with a Precision (which I have) and a Jazz (which I had). They seem to be discontinued and hard to get hold of, and an original would be out of my budget. I just fancy one to be honest, I play in a 60s band amongst other things? Thanks in advance for any feedback.
  9. I've got one of these. Previously owned a Gibson model and this knocks spots off it. Lovely build quality and well balanced, great variety of tone too. GLWTS.
  10. Right, this has to go, it's taking up space I haven't got. Price reduced by a further £45 to £350. A new Gen 3 Big Baby, which is the nearest equivalent, is £779. Less than half price!
  11. I don't have the original packaging. I don't feel confident I could wrap it proficiently from what i've got available. I don't trust couriers!
  12. No love for this? Am I asking too much? Fabulous cab, it's almost like a 2 x 12 but smaller and punchier. One handed carry. Extract from spec here: The magic is inside the box - a full 2-way crossover, akin to that found in the very best studio monitors, which splits the sound between the two speakers, so each speaker can concentrate on doing what it does best. No other crossover found in a bass guitar cab has this complex topology, with very steep slopes so it is all but impossible to overpower the midrange driver, so that you get no interference between drivers either side of the crossover point, and so that you get the most accurate and realistic sound whether you're the bassist, a bandmate or a fan. Feedback appreciated if you have a view, by PM please. Cheers, Andy.

  14. It must have been one of those urban myths. I can't find anything to support the theory, thanks for clearing that up for me!
  15. Brilliant clip! Wasn't this band put together by Paul Morley to prove that hit music could be "manufactured"? Opened the floodgates.
