1. ... This Jaydee GA24 was originally built as a fretted bass, which was subsequently de-fretted! I also understand that the pick-ups are not original, but they still look and sound great. I picked this one up second-hand towards the end of the 1990's.. and it has that distinctive growling tone and sustain (that I guess all of them do)! General features: Chrome Schaller machine heads; Five piece Walnut and Maple laminated neck; Seven piece laminated body center; Brazilian Mahogany outriggers; 24 fret Ebony fingerboard - 34” scale; Hard Nickel alloy frets; Mother of pearl dot fret position markers; Two SN2000 pick-ups in polished hardwood cases; Chrome hardware; Active electronics with 3 band EQ; XLR and jack outputs;
 2.
Hi, How about some pictures of yours? The fretless GA sounds interesting.
"..Because there just isn't enough JD PORN... is there?" My fret-less, which was built fretted and was then de-fretted! I picked it up second hand in the late 1990's. Also, I understand that the pick ups are not original.. but they still look and sound very, very good! Hope you enjoy all the pics! 5. Hey! thanks so much for the You guy's are great.. and for your questions.. so I'll have a go at answering them.. You all have some fantastic basses/effects: "variation is evil: DIVERSITY is good!".. Bert (BassTractor); loving the basses, and if I didn't like my JD's so much, then I would have all three of yours! question of personal taste I guess.. Eskimo Bassist: "compressor before the octave".. well, I've seen this debated on the forums, and tbh I've never been 100% convinced about the OC-2 - because of the tracking - but, it was one of the first pedals I ever bought (budget midi-bass anyone?), and obviously it does add a kind of synth-like 'growl' to the sound, which is one man's Meat and another man's Murder! I played a version of The Rolling Stones: 'Satisfaction' at a garden party a few year's back; doubling up with the guitarist, and it sounded really nice with it cranked right up! I've heard a guitar play though it, and I think that particular pedal sounds much better on that. I've watched other Octave pedal demos on the internet, and they are all pretty much the same; overall the OC-2 is no worse, and no better.. As for the compressor.. I have the CS-3 on the board and it's staying at the END of the chain (for the time being). It does a job with not too much fuss, but it's quite noisy and I would like to try MXR's M87 @ Stompbox to see if it's worth the £££. Truckstop: Thanks for your welcome and comment(s) about the Volcano Red JD. It is a great color; has a low action.. and it's got history. The story goes that It appeared on the BBC day-time show: Pebble Mill from Birmingham during the 1980's and was loaned/played by 'The Shadows' bass player of the time. It ended up being sold through a shop in Southend, Essex and I picked it up for a few notes after that. Jaydentaku: How is the MXR pedal? I bought it 2nd hand off the Internet, only a few weeks ago, and has the classic Wah-wah funk sound. It's low noise - I'm sooooo fussy - and most of all, it is GREAT FUN to use. Highly recommended. That's all for now: 'see you' out there on the forums.. god bless
