  1. That's very true. With one cab at 8ohm, my pre-gain tends to be set at just over halfway and post-gain at full to get a decent amount of volume. In the studio on Sunday, I linked up a 412 to my rig to get a 4ohm load and my pre-gain was set just below halfway and post-gain was up about three quarters - and the volume increase was huge and definitely not running at full whack.

    ...I'm dropping you a PM :)

  2. Hi all,

For sale is my Ashdown MAG410 Deep cabinet. It's about two years old, has seen many gigs and is road worn to that affect. It's always been reliable as hell, apart from a faulty horn which has been replaced by Ashdown (I have the repair receipt too).

I'm sure most people know the specs, but power handling is 450W RMS, 8ohm, and weighs in the region of 30-37kg.

I've tried to detail the condition of the cab as best I can in the photos, collection or meet up in Essex only please.
Any questions, please ask away :)

Another who's used an Ibanez GSR200 here, as well as my Precision. I've actually taken my Ibanez down to BEAD when my 5 string was f*cked, without any issues whatsoever.

My Ibanez is currently in BF#BE and it's fine - I am using the lowest four strings from a 5-string set though :)

  4. My Epi Thunderbird handles drop C absolutely fine, as does my Ibanez GSR200 and virtually any other bass I've played over the last year. I use Dunlop Stainless Steels .105 gauge for my low string and it sounds brilliant.

As chrismuzz said, I wouldn't go any less than a .110 gauge string though - I'm purely using a .105 as I haven't found the time to file down the nut on my Thunderbird so a .110 would actually fit through.

Getting a decent setup done would be extremely beneficial too.

  5. I swear by my Tour 700, loud and reliable, sure it weighs a bit but it's more than manageable. The sound when running the EQ flat is good, but any EQ'ing I tend to rely on my Sansamp PBDI for.

Played it once through a TX410 but didn't really get on with it too well, but the newer TVX210 I tested in a shop was brilliant.

  6. As much as I'd like to keep two 410s, the worsening state of my back and my car leads me to off the MAG.

chris_b: Peavey Tour 700 and I play metal with both my bands, and unfortunately, 500W at 8ohms from the Peavey just doesn't cut it with hard hitting drummers and two guitarists in each band - that extra 200W from running a 4ohm load makes all the difference.

  7. Hello all,

I've recently acquired an Ashdown ABM 410 as an upgrade from my MAG 410 and I'm very pleased with it indeed. Now that I have a spare 410, I may be trading it with another BC'er for a Hartke VX115.

Anyone know how these two cabs will sit together in regards to any differences in tone and sound?

    Ta

  8. Bought three sets of Dunlop stainless steel strings from Michael and couldn't recommend him as a seller enough.

Quick and helpful with his messages and replies, got the bits posted out quickly and most importantly, it all turned up as described with no issues at all.

    Buy with confidence :)

I use the Senheisser Freeport. Had it 5 years. Never a problem. Andy

Ditto, I've borrowed a Freeport from a friend numerous times over the past year, never had a single problem with it, even with the antenna on the receiver gaffa taped up as the wire had been stripped.
