It took you 5 basses to work this out!?

Actually yes. There are LOTS of factors behind a bad sounding bass. And there are several EMG models, never thought it was the whole brand that was flawed.

But I forgot...you were trying to be fun or smart there. Hi five.

Do you have any evidence to back up this rather strange claim?

Evidence? You know that sound is a subjective matter don't you?

I'll had 5 basses with EMG's they all sounded awful. What a garbage PU-brand. At least for bass.

I personally really like the Katana shape, I think it may have been a little bit too quirky, in an "un-warwick" kinda way, if that makes sense? The weirder Warwick shapes a more elegant you see, but the Katana always seemed like a bass that put function before form, which is never a bad thing, at the end of the day, we have to be comfortable on these big chunks of wood or we will keep looking for something else.

Just a quick thing for Warwick Official, has there ever been a 6 string version of the Katana made?...

    I feel inclined to agree

  4. To me, its not uglier than the shape of a Telecaster for example. It's different! Different is good! Specially when it ergonomically works. There's still a long way for the left hand to the first frets like in many Warwicks I've tested but you get used to it. Great to know that they still exist!

Mr. Warwick! It would be great to know more about these basses, could barely find anything on the web when I was going to buy one...What is the story behind the bass? I read something about a design contest?

  5. I was wondering the other day: What happened to this model? It was obviously a big market failure but I personally think its one of the most comfortable basses I've ever had (still do).

It is pretty light, sounds killer (not much unlike a Corvette really) it's very well balanced and has a great support for the right forearm, it makes it almost equally easy to play on the front and back PU and has a brutally fat neck. (=Good)

Were was the fail? The body form? To much like a Corvette but with another body? What do you think?

Are there any other Katana wielders here?

  6. Satrugar, thats a VERY nice SR, maybe the finest I've seen. I pulled back in the last second today, sat and played the 5 stringed version and could never feel well with the position the right hand "gets" on it naturally. Unbalanced in a strange way because it really shouldn't! But it is...strange design.

  7. Thanks for the feedback, it's just that I've changed basses more than "needed" lately and because I'm a simple music teacher/bassist I can't keep all the basses and have to leave an instrument in order to get another, but hell, it looks like this Ibanez won't disappoint and I need a six!

  8. Hi everyone

Please help me with my my GAS for this bass, is there anything negative anyone of you have experienced with one? Go ahead and give me your opinion! It doesn't matter if you own one or just tested one at the music store.

I can't find data about the weight either, is it unbalanced? Does it feel "cheap"?

    Thanks!

+1...I've heard the Fusion is kind of "toyish" but with good sound/weight.

  10. Hi there! Take it easy at the beginning, there's absolutely no reason to rush into hard songs cause "everything is hard when played well" as my teacher said. Take really easy songs like "with or without you" and "7 nation army". Focus on your position, study your body... arms, fingers, shoulders...and don't forget to breathe! :)
