Company of heros especially!

  2. quick heads up guys, this looks like quite a good deal:

  3. Haha glad you like it! Never really thought that the bass was too quiet before- I'll have to have another listen. I'll have to let our singer know about his bit- to be honest I think he was having a bad day or something, his vocals are usually nop notch to my ears!

    We've got a whole album on there too:

    Loads of great tracks on there (personal favourites are Shark Tooth and Start a Fire)

    <shameless plug>
    A quite resonable £5 to download, but you can listen to them for free :)

  5.
I used to love my Thumb, it was an excellent bass. About as good as a "band" bass as I've ever had, it just sounded great in a mix. However, with my love of slap sounds, it ended up being moved on. Still a fantastic bass though and one I look back most fondly on.
First I've heard of someone not liking the slap sound on a Thumb! What was it about it that didn't work for you?

  6. There's something about them that I love that I just can't get out of other basses. My current Thumb BO4 neck dives like a bastard and I've got to keep my thumb firmly planted on the pickup to keep the neck at the right angle for my playing style (hmm, maybe thats where the name came from...)- but yet I would never ever consider getting rid of it as little annoyances like that just make me love it more. It's flawed ergonomically but I am very willing to deal with those flaws as the sound is just impossible to get out of other brands. The only thing I'd change it for is another Warwick (maybe a Streamer :) )

  8. I think it might be the angle you're plucking with as mentioned above, you'll want to aim to play across the string instead of through it towards the body. If you pluck as you would normally but in slow motion you'll be able to see if you're dragging the string to the fretboard with your stroke, and if so you can compensate by hitting it more laterally.
    Also it might be that you've got your amp at the same volume as when you're playing with a pick- a pick is naturally louder than fingers in my experience so it might just be that you're having to play harder to get the same volume.

    It'll all come with practice though!
