1. Just adding to what everyone else has said, thanks to Ped for organising it and thaks to Woodenshirt for the sarnies. It was great to see so many bassists in one place. The highlight for me was having a go on Bass Ace's double bass

2. Jerry Jemmott is definitely one of my bass heros. He played bass for King Curtis for a while. Check the tracks "Instant Groove" and the live version of "Memphis Soul Stew" for some great Jerry Jemmott bass playing. "Aretha Franklin Live at the Fillmore West" is also very much worth a listen

Just found this on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Loy55z4GpA

3. I'd recommend Fred Wesley's autobiography (trombonist and musical director for James Brown and Parliament/Funkadelic) for an interesting and entertaining read.

I recently read Ronnie Woods autobiography, he's someone who knows how to enjoy life.

+1 on what everybody has said about the Eric Clapton book, I didn't even finish it.

Hammer Of The Gods - essential reading for everyone who has ever wanted to be a rock star

4. My personal favourites-

Ain't Too Proud To Beg - The Temptations
I Second That Emotion - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
Tears Of A Clown - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
Nowhere To Run, Nowhere To Hide - Martha & The Vandellas

and the intro to Roadrunner - Junior Walker

5. I've got the non export version too. I was looking for a bass that sounded like a Precision but felt like a Jazz and after fitting the obligatory Wizard pickups that's exactly what I've got. I'm very pleased with mine.

6.
Thats interesting, If i put both pickups on full the volume of the D and G strings drops a lot. It's like with both on full they phase each other out. Is the wiring wrong??
You need to reverse the wiring on the neck pickup, I had the same problem when I first fitted Wizards to my Aerodyne.

7. 1 x Bass (like Chris_b ^^^ never needed a backup in over 20 years)
1 x Amp (as above)
1 x cab
1 x bag containing -

leads
DI box (can be used in case of amp failure)
bass stand
music stand
tuner
extension power cable
spare strings (only needed once about 20 years ago)
band uniform
book to pass the time between soundcheck and gig

8. Normally not more than 2 hours but in December we are playing at a big party in Leeds which is about 3 hours away. We are getting well paid for this gig, but whatever the distance the money I get has at least got to cover my travel costs. It might be different if I was in an originals band and playing for the exposure.
