Explains a bit about the factories here

Adjustable gain control on it anywhere?

I`ve got a 70`s Vintera, it`s nice but the previous owner buggered up the neck and snapped the truss rod, it now sports a NW Guitars replacement and dare I say it that it plays every bit as nice as the original.

I agree with Stew

Well it's here, first impressions, I seriously like the stealth paint and for once the tort guard is growing on me, neck is not as chunky as other HB's I've owned in fact it's quite similar to my 4 string Alpher maybe only fractionally deeper its straight, no sharp ends and the frets seem to be quite level. Pickup isn't bad for the money, remember it's £118! The tuners tune and the bridge is functional but not brilliant but like I said it's £118, would I recommend one for a beginner? Definitely, would I recommend one in general? Without a doubt, it's a bargain!

I feel bad mentioning it now you've bought the other, but they do have one which is active, and with two pickups...

Don`t worry, it`s the finish I`m after.

You do wonder with stuff like this whether it would be worth someone using this for a customising project. You'd struggle to get a finished MM style body at that price.
I`m now thinking rather than a pre amp maybe routing it out for a neck pup, maybe a reverse P or another mm style humbucker with vvt and maybe coil taps and keeping it passive?

This looks rather tasty, if they did an active version I`d be sorely tempted but just might take a punt as a base for mods.

That`s a bit of a stunner!

Bassdoc in Throckley.

I've got the Bigman on both my Alphers, really really good pickup.

You can`t go wrong with switchcraft, just got to make sure it has the right amount of terminals, they look like they`re a barrel socket on the pics I`ve just looked at.

Unless you want the grain to show through I`d suggest grain filler by the bucket load, Paulownia will suck a lot of paint up as it`s very open pored and also very soft! I was going to suggest a neck from Northwest guitars but they`re out of stock, looks like I got mine at the right time! Good luck with the build.

Bought a strap from Martyn, arrived very quickly and as advertised. Cheers Jeff.

Been looking at these bridges on the `bay` are they just surface mount with no additional routing required behind so you can tune it? In other words.....more pics of the bridge please 😉

Stay away from Charles Berthoud`s tribute to EVH then, his version of Eruption on bass is incredible.
