To get a feel of what a short scale such as a mustang might be like to play, tune your bass down two semitones and put a capo on the second fret.
I play mustangs (currently own five) they're my favourite bass, especially the JMJ roadworn. The orange vintera II looks rather tasty and I have one of the orange squier classic vibes which is a very nice cheaper option.

I use flats so I probably do it differently each time — I can't remember.
When I get a new bass though, I usually take all the strings off and treat the fingerboard as appropriate before putting on a set of flats. Am I the only person who makes sure a bass is spotlessly clean when selling it?

Come on, we all know that the most important thing about a bass is the logo on the headstock.

One thing about these that can come as a surprise is that they fit perfectly in any case or gigbag made for a telecaster. I have a peardrop-shaped hard case that I use for my telecasters, but it also fits my danelectro longhorn like a glove.

From what I can see in the pics that have been posted, I would say that the body does go with the neck. In particular the shape of the control cavity is familiar.

From the pics it certainly looks identical to the 1990 japanese '62 reissue Precision I used to own. I can't see the strap buttons clearly, but it looks like they might have been swapped out for staplock buttons. I recall there was also a 'hootenanny' strap button on the back of the headstock. It also looks like someone took a dislike to the finish on the back of the neck on yours for some reason.

You have to spend £300 on effects pedals for tonight's gig…

I've swapped several compressors and dirt pedals on and off my board, and I'm finally happy with the pairing of the BC-1X and BB-1X. I particularly like that the LED metering on the BC-1X makes it very easy to set up.
