Yes, that's what I was driving at. Unless the bass has had some really bizarre mod, I wouldn't expect that to happen unless it was swung like an axe at a tree!
I don't think the manufacturer would be particularly impressed, but I guess it depends whether you bought it from new as to whether they would be prepared to do anything about it. I just wondered if they were after market strap locks and the screws were substantially longer than originally fitted. If they weren't drilled out longer to fit, that may have been the start of the problem (if indeed it fractured at the strap lock hole).

Strap locks were installed fine and it cracked higher up in the body. It's also a used bass. Overall I'm happy, it plays like it used to and now has a little more character ;)

  2. Hi Guys,

I'd just like to thank the user SlapbassSteve for reaching out to me after my Thunderbird nearly met its end.

After the incident and exchange of PM's, we met up & he repaired it.

    It went from this:

    to this:

I'm honestly incredibly happy with the result. It may be rough but at least it vaguely resembles a Thunderbird again!

    Thanks,
    Sam

    :)

I haven't tried the Kent Armstrong Lipstick pickups but I did put a pair of Danelectro lipsticks on my Jazz inspired bass and was totally underwhelmed by the result.

Pity, this sounds amazing on paper :(

I understand what you are saying, but my bands would adopt the same attitude to a gig if it were the Albert Hall or a "no pressure" charity gig.

People see you playing and make their minds up based on your performance not on the circumstances of the gig. You should always play like Michael Eavis is in the house looking for a Saturday night closer for the main stage for next year.
I approach every gig the same in the sense that me and the guys i'm on stage with give it our all.

Not had a chance to play Classic Pro yet, but the Pro I tried a few years ago was IMO massively underwhelming. Just another budget Korean active bass with a hugely over-inflated price tag due to the body shape and name on the TRC.
I took the TRC off :D

That bass looks great in black, congrats.

FYI the crack is in the classic T bird weak spot...the scarf joint where the headstock is glued to the neck. Seen one or two birds with this before.

Same, a friend has a black Tokai TB48 which has one but worse than mine. Still perfectly playable :)

£150 incl the case is one heck of a good buy. I had one for a while and it was really very nice. Just didn't suit my waistline.

Suits me and my stupidly skinny jeans :D

Interested on your thoughts on the Pro vs the Classic Pro?
I'll let you know tomorrow when i get a good play on it in a band setting.

First impressions are that they are incredibly similar, although I favour the bridge on the Pro more than the 3 point bridge on the Classic.

I love them both to pieces though, so it's incredibly hard to say a bad word about either :)

    Nice score.
I have the same in a natural finish. Lovely bass, delivering waaaaay more than it's paltry market value suggests in both playability and tone.
I was looking at a natural finish because i couldn't source a black one anywhere, they do look amazing though. :)

  10. I finally paid out for one after about 6 months of being on the fence. :D

It's looks so nice and plays really well. Bought it on Basschat courtesy of PaulPirie8 for £150 including a hardcase.

    Some pictures below :gas: :

    Yin & Yang :gas:

There is a small crack in the neck & its been sanded down to see the extent of the damage but its really minor:

All in all a brilliant purchase! :D

    Thanks,
    Sam

The drummer will dissapear just before you go on. This is anavoidable. Don't panic, just go find him.
Happened to me last week. :(

Also, Good luck at your first gig man, it's cool that you're doing a Seattle tribute, We play aneurysm in our set :D

  12. Depending on if the finish is consistent under the pickguard. TAKE THE PICKGUARD OFF! :D

A friend has a black TB48, got it cheap after a guy tried to "relic" it. It's no longer glossed & the guy took a belt sander to the wood under the pickguard. I wasn't best pleased. :(

I haven't had a new bass day in three years, it's great! Haha.

I'm adjusting to the weight and the thickness, and it's not as bad as I thought. Just need to find a bag or case big enough now because none of the ones I own are big enough. Oops.
That's another thing. They're really awkward to carry. :(

The sound of mine & a VT Bass makes up for everything though :D
