Yeah, you're right. You can't that.

Check out his files on Youtube. I wish (1) I had his talent, and (2) his collection of classic basses!

Check that the strings aren't whacking against the pole pieces of the pick-ups - that's if they're exposed. I find i get a nasty clicking when I dig-in playing my American deluxe jazz, as the strings hit the polepieces. Probably need to lower my pick ups a tad.

Here's a couple more cool videos. First one is an interview with Nile Rodgers - with the classic quote at 1:25 about Bernard and what strings he used...brilliant! I think we can all learn a bit from that - it's not so much about your gear, more about what/how you play! Really good introduction to the world of Edwards and Rodgers, Chic & Sister Sledge, and the poignant story of Bernard's premature passing in Japan.

2nd is a very short clip of Bernard and John Taylor of Duran Duran, during the Power Station collaboration, working on the bass break for Get It On. What bass is it that Bernard is playing? G & L? Stingray without a pickguard?

Great pedal - wouldn't ever be without mine. My programmable Sansamp BDDI sits gathering dust...
Have a free bump. -
+ 4 from me. 969 and counting...

Everybody Dance - Chic. Who can honestly nail that ludicrous intro?!

If you call up the Oxford St store on the tel numbers on their website, the phone line goes through to the fax, and the fax number calls the local Social Service department - I kid you not. Says it all.

I've got an H4 and play in a pretty loud band. We record our rehearsals with it. Never overloads or distorts at all, really good recordings. I don't really use the cubase that comes with it - I just upload the wav or mp3 files that I've recorded. Great little unit.
-
Ahh just seen your selling a BDDI, so guessing you're not gonna be interested!

I don't suppose you would consider a trade for a brand new Sansamp programmable BDDI + MI Audio Neo Fuzz + EH Nano Bassballs?
I dare say this needs no introduction!
This is very well used (been going strong for nearly 5 years now) but has been on a pedal board the whole time and is therefore in very good condition. I have the original box and manual and I think even the power supply somewhere. For the pedal whores out there, I can put the original rubber feet back on or leave the velcro - I also presume that you are using 9v poweralls and therefore let me know if you want me to dig up the power supply!

I love it. But I suppose it depends on what you're after. I was after heavy fat synthy gated sound, which you can get on the more extreme settings.
Funnily enough, I have a Bass Blow Torch on it's was to me as we speak. When I tried it though, it was fab for getting a really gravelly, throaty bass sound rather than a thick, warm fuzz tone which is what I'm after now.
I don't have the pedal to hand, but from memory I have the gain and mix set to 3-4 O'clock, bass treble and mids to around 2 o'clock, mid-shift on the middle setting, blowtorch 'on', and voila - a big fat fuzz sound results. -
If you're looking for something Muse-like, I would heartily recommend the MXR Bass BlowTorch. It seems to have a bit of a poor reputation, but I don't think you will find many pedals (for the price) that do the heavy/gated fuzz thing better - it really is the dogs b0ll0cks. It really holds the low end too. I don't think it's strength lies in the more subtle setting that are available; however, when you turn the gain up and engage the Blowtorch, it really does produce a fantastic wall of sound - almost synth-like in intensity, quite gated and compressed. It's the closest thing, in one pedal, to that Hysteria or Starlight tone that I 've come across - although obviously I've not tried as many pedals out there as some people.
Combined with a Bassballs, you could probably get close to the Plug In Baby sound too.
I have the MI Neo Fuzz pedal too, but it doesn't get anywhere close to the MXR in imitating Mr Wolstenholme in my opinion. -
Incredible. Any guesses as to how much the whole lot is worth?

Don't hate me, but I think Rutger Gunnarsson, the chap who played most of the ABBA bass lines, is a superb player...
Go on, force yourself to listen to stuff like Money Money Money, Dancing Queen, One of Us...
Some great melodic lines. -
You can hear my Aerodyne in action here: http://www.myspace.com/goodbyesergeants on the first track, Oh No I Know. If you wait to the end at 2:50 you can hear it it in all its glory. Original pickup replaced with Bassline Quarterpounders...
MarloweDK's Youtube videos - great playing, great bass collection too!

He's just rock solid, isn't he?
What I also like is that a lot of what he does is almost obtainable - with a load of hard work and dedication, I may be able to get close. I find a lot of the the really flash stuff a major turn off (I once watched a Bill Dickens vid for example - super fast slapping, but just did nothing for me - it just seemed to be showing off how fast and difficult a line he could slap, with no real other purpose or soul - to me anyway), whereas this guy makes me want to plug in, turn on and get practicing ! Truly inspirational.
Plus - no other youtube vid has made me want to play along to Dolly Parton! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGT-jtWAYBY
Great fills between 1:30 and 2:00.
