1. Drop me a PM Ian and I'll get them posted off to you.
2. Yup, I've found another load of surplus CDs in my collection. The ones below are no longer needed- I either already have another copy, or I have them included in an alernative boxset format. So, if anyone wants any of them, just let me know. Usual Kev deal - no charge for the CDs, and free postage within the UK. I'll mark each CD as "gone" whenever they get claimed. GONE - Eagles - Greatest Hits - GONE GONE - Police - Regatta De Blanc - GONE GONE - ELO - Greatest Hits - GONE GONE - Simple Minds - Glittering Prize (greatest hits) - GONE GONE - Rush - Vapor Trails - GONE.
3. All my instruments - basses and guitars - have a strap for each one. I also have custom made straps for some of them, such as yhese ostrich leather ones (made for me by Martin Pryce Leather Artisan)
4. My Shell Pink P-Bass
5. Carey Nordstrand is making 3 band preamp for me. We're still finalising the exact configuration of the pots and frequencies of the preamp. It'll be sent to me here in Scotland from Carey's workshop in California. Should be on its way in the next couple of days.
6. Yeah, Owen, I'm not sure about the "black ring" dots on maple either. The "white ring" ones on rosewood or ebony should be pretty good though.
7. Rather than using LEDs for the side dot markers on the fingerboard edge, I'm using these Luminlay dots. Just look like ordinary dots in daylight, but in the dark - wow! I've ordered the 2mm/3mm green dots with white outer edge piping. Should look cool http://www.luminlay.com/movieen.html
8. Yup Chris's attention to detail is well known. I've been friends with Chris for over 20 years. He's a star!
9. Chris is making this for me. I've no pics yet as the build is just about to commence. So, I'll update everyone as to the progress when the pics become available. I love old USA retro Surf Green cars. I've found Surf Green to be a colour that is sometimes too vivid or too dull in the available spray paint currently available. My preference on this build is for a faded out Surf Green look, while still maintaining a vibrancy. I saw a Fiat 500 in their "Smooth Mint" finish and thought, "YES!!!! THAT'S THE COLOUR I'M LOOKING FOR"!!! So, that's what we're going to use on the body and matching headstock. The specs will be: Jazz style 4 string fretless Body - lightweight alder finished in Fiat Smooth Mint Neck - very old growth maple (for resonance and solidity) Fingerboard - unlined ebony fretless. Side dot markers only. Matching headstock - in Fiat Smooth Mint Pickguard - either parchment 3 ply, or tortoiseshell Tuners - Hipshot Ultralite clover head Pickups - probably a set of the new Fender Pure Vintage 64 jazz pickups. I installed a set of the Pure Vintage 74 pickups in my white dot & bound Jazz and they really are fantastic units. Electronics - we'll be discussing circuits with John East. I'll be looking for a circuit which retains the natural sound of the instrument, but with a fuss free ability to dial in a bit more "bark and bite" when required. I'm popping throughto see Chris in a couple of weeks, so there will be more updates then.
10. Chris bought an Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive from me. Great guy to deal with. Thanks again Chris, Kevin
11. Unfortunately, my gig last night had to be cancelled. Our guitarist's mother has bben in hospital for a week and a half. On Friday afternoon he was called to the hospital where the docs told him and his father that his Mum had suffered kidney and heart failure. They were unable to treat the kidneys as the strain on her heart would be too much. Equally, treating her heart would be too much strain on the kidneys. All they could do was make her as comfortable as possible. They were advised to prepare themselves for the worst. They were advised that she will deteriorate and when that happens it'll happen "very quickly ". Incredibly sad situation. The venue were very sympathetic when they were advised. Kinda puts the rest of your worries into perspective, huh?
12. Hey mate, I replied on the original thread that I thought the guy sounded good. My response wasn't intended to ridicule your initial conments; simply that I enjoyed the playing. I don't think your comments were out of line, simply an indication of your own viewpoint. We're bass players - our function is to support others - if my comment was taken in any other way, then I'm truly sorry. It wasn't my intention. Keep grooving!!
13. The guy on the video sounds pretty great to me. Seems like he's enjoying playing along to a groove workout track.
14. £40 delivered in UK. Here is my James Lomenzo Hyperdrive pedal available. It's in immaculate condition - never been out of the house. The Hyperdrive is a really great, versatile, drive pedal. Unfortunately, I don't have the need for it in my current band setup. So, if anyone wants it, it can be yours for £40 delivered in the UK. Go on, treat yourself! 15. sh*te And Onions???? Hahaha - that is so bad, it's brilliant!!!
16. I have played gigs over the years where the supporting acts had some duff names, such as: CHURN I was expecting a dark metal outfit, or perhaps a Wurzels style bumpkin crew? Actually, they were a poppy indie type. THE DONKEY SPOKE What????? BASTARD SQUAD Based in Fife, Scotland, they always moaned about not getting any gigs. I think the name didn't help? PIE, BEANS AND CHIPS Rock outfit. However, the one that really took the biscuit, and which needs no explanation as to why it was bad was.............. DARKIE. Dear goodness!
17. In addition to his Jazz basses, he's also using..... Fender P-Bass, Gibson Thunderbird and a Rickenbacker double neck! !!! Mega!!!
18. Great guy to deal with, and very quick delivery.
19. Some great stuff on that album - I think I wore the grooves out on it when it first came out.
