  1. For sale, my gorgeous Olympic white alder/ maple neck Tokai Hard Puncher P Bass.
I bought this about 6 years ago from a Swiss bass player....I wanted a classic 70s P and a bit of research suggested these are....well, you probably know how good they are.
It has some " issues"....effectively, it's been a bit tampered with...previous owner had put a F..... decal on; I meant to change it back but never got around to it. He also changed the tuners to enormous schallers; the ones now fitted are off a mid 80s Fender MIJ bass and are the right sort for the bass
The wear is real...the white has aged to a gorgeous custardy cream with a little wear-through in places. It has it's share of dings...and an odd drill hole beside the neckplate....strange strap placement, perhaps. The neck is just amazing....now a fabulous amber hue, straight and true and delicious to play...just the right handful There is a crack in the finish by the E tuner, but it is not through the wood and is stable.
Nut is a smidge under 42mm....weight is around 9lb 1oz in old money...neck pocket is tight....truss does it's thing.
It's a fantastic bass ... but I'm after something, so it's for sale. No trades, really, unless you have a decent octave pedal and some cash. But money, as they say, talks.
Listing from my phone....in case there are any absurd spelling mistakes....
Will add some pics later this evening.

This is a vintage P bass for a quarter of the cost of the other sort that it looks very like...pity about the decal fakery.... but at least the mojo is real!
Sounds like DeeDee...Simonon...Pete Farndon...which is what I was looking for, and maybe you are too....?

  2. Steff bought my Jazz neck....
what a nice guy...completely straightforward and honest; wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again and would recommend him to others without reservation.
Thanks Steff, it was a pleasure.

  3. Jazz neck now sold

For sale, two Fender bass necks:(1 now sold)

Still for sale, a Fender MIM Nate Mendel P bass neck, aged/relic'd amber nitro this time, and a lovely figuring on the rosewood board.
This neck has a nut width of 40.45mm, and the standard heel width. Though factoy lightly relic'd, this neck has had very little use and the frets are essentially as new.
I'd like £250 for this neck, shipped with insurance.

Reason for sale is the relatively familiar story...I've played Jazz basses for years, but very slight arthritis means I find wider necks more comfortable now. I got the NM neck as I hoped it would be a sufficient increase in width, but it's turned out to be not quite enough.

    Both fabulous necks though.

    Cheers,

    Crispin

  4. I also bought a nitro P-bass pickguard off Simon. It arrived quickly, is exactly as described and the whole transaction was smooth and seamless.
At every stage communication was excellent and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him as a trading partner.

  5. Ooh, I like these!

Youth - everything rolled into one massive punkydubbyfunky racket!
Kim Clarke - never mentioned, but so great with Defunkt
    Jah Wobble - so inspirational
Bill Laswell - to this day
Robbie Shakespeare - no explanation needed.

  6. Just bought a P scratchplate from Ted....

A small thing, you might say, and you'd be right....but he still went to endless trouble, it was exactly as described, really well packaged and
    arrived superfast.

An absolutely trustworthy trading partner and a very nice guy.

  7. An RKS A Bass with hard case for £260. I realise that these basses....divide....opinion, but I absolutely love it and the fact that I don't bump into one at
every jam night is a plus. And for the workmanship, materials, desigh integrity and playability, I think it's a massive bargain.

I chalk this one up against the Wal Custom I let go for £275 some years ago......

  8. Traded my GK MB200( he obviously likes them!) for Tony's Genz 6.2.

Deal was straightforward throughout; he's a nice bloke; patient and excellent comms. Very
happy to recommend him as a trading partner.

    Thanks Tony,

    Crispin
