1. I sold Chris a double bass, it was a smooth and pleasant transaction, he turned up when he said he would with appropriate transport and the right money, after clear and excellent communications, can you ask for more? Al
2. Quick to pay me, good comms throughout.
3.
Can you mail me some photo sod the connections tha it takes/uses?
Sorry, only just saw this, busy getting ready for an imminent trip so can't sort out photos of my one for a bit but found some poor ones here: http://en.audiofanzine.com/search/images/yamaha+sy,p.3.html The connections on the back are MIDI In, Out and Thru, a card slot, Sustain pedal, Foot Volume, Output Left/mono, Output Right, Phones (stereo), Power switch, 10-12V input. Adaptor is included. The pedals and outputs are all 6mm jacks. Hope that helps, Al
4. And finally in my clearout, a nice cello. Hybrid, i.e. spruce front, ply sides and rear. Serviced not too long ago by a luthier who re-sited the sound post and replaced the tailpiece (old one also for sale here). Rumanian, 1970s, and according to the luthier definitely at the beginner's end of the market but much superior to the cheap new Far Eastern ones readily available on auction sites. Some very small marks, and some slight damage to one side outside the body: , nothing compared to the average upright, but worth a mention. And it is a deeper red shade than most. Includes soft case, bow, rosin, and beginner's music if I find it. Selling again as I have nowhere to keep it and worry about it coming to harm just lying around the place. Cost me £400 many years ago, now I think £200 might be a fair price. PM me if interested. In Kent. Al
5. Yamaha SY35 Super little light keyboard, great as a controller and in its own right, five octaves/pitch bend/mod/touch sensitive and aftertouch, plus an unsprung XY controller that maps automatically to useful things like the Physical Modelling synth in Logic's XY. FM and AWM sounds, nice for synthy things, Vector Synthesis etc. Includes original box, original manuals, reasonably famous (in synth world) previous owner (will tell winning buyer name) etc. good condition, minor signs of use but no significant damage. Last one on eBay sold for £85 so let's set that as the asking price. Selling purely to make space for not-so-new baby! Shipping might be possible, as I have a suitable box, or I'm in Kent. Arp Axxe Needs a service and the key bushings replacing (a simple but tedious job). The only time I played it the ADSR didn't seem to work, but I'm unfamiliar with it. I looked inside (I have a degree in electronics) and there were no obvious signs of failure (all components looked connected and no burning etc.) Everything else seemed to work, Sample/Hold switch was broken off but just about usable, and almost all the slider caps were present, remarkably for this one. One or two missing caps. All keys good (i.e. not damaged as was often the case). Few marks/small scratches to the case/panel etc. but nothing massively wrong cosmetically. This is a later one with black/orange colour scheme. Ideally for collection from near Diss in Norfolk one weekday next week. £300 no offers. And if someone was to turn up to my house in Kent with £400 cash they could have a very nice Roland Juno 6, cosmetically better than anything I've seen recently on eBay but not perfect, 100% working, in a soft case. Want to keep it really though so not taking offers for less or looking at shipping that one. If anything takes your interest, send me a PM.
6. Here are two pics. Hopefully you can see well enough... Al
7. Will see what I can do later tonight... and apparently I'm not allowed to do best offer, so let's ask £10 to start with.
8. Any use to anyone? Typical wooden design with fine-tuners all present and correct, could be ebony according to a luthier but some parts look dyed to me. Wire that holds it on end-pin has snapped hence its replacement with a metal one. Best offer taken, which could be for postage alone, as they don't exactly get snapped up on eBay. Al
9. And sold last week to someone on here for the bargain price of £200. Hopefully he'll inform us of its progress...
10. See http://basschat.co.u...want-to-buy-it/ for discussion and pictures. Well-used and needs some work but basically solid, functional and sounds nice to my inexpert ear. French bow included if desired. Please send me your offers based on an asking price of £300. This needs to go soon, would rather it went for less than not at all, so try me. Al
11. I'll take either of those offers Actually I live in Faversham too. But... anyone have an idea of a fair price?
12. I have a battered double bass I need to find a new home for soon. I have no idea of its worth (£20? £200?) so would appreciate any informed comments on likely value along with any offers. On the plus side, it's intact, tunes fine, has no obvious structural issues to me as a non-expert (i.e no gaping cracks), has a solid front/ply back & sides, and comes with a bow (French I believe, the squarer variety). It's c.110cm high at the back from the lowest point to the highest (not the neck bit, the highest bit of the body) and c.180cm high when stood up (give or take a couple cm), so I think a 3/4 size. On the negative side, I think it was once a school instrument, is rather battered, the strings don't look great, the bridge ditto, and has no case. Someone has tried to nail (!) where the top had come away from the side at one place, not very successfully. The person I got this bass from then glued it with proper clamps, but I've no idea what the glue was, and unfortunately the nails were left in place. No obvious signs that that repair is failing - see fourth picture. Internally no maker's mark I can see, I would presume it to be later 20th century. The soundpost is in place beneath the G string which seems slightly odd to me. I hope the pics are good enough to tell what this might be worth, if anything. The colour in person seems slightly lighter than these shots, the last one looks most accurate to me. ta, Al PS located in Medway, Kent.
