1. Ahola, Sorry to trouble the BC community. I'm looking to record a song, and wanting to use a fretless bass. I bought a cheap fretless just for the purpose, but it's not really working out and requires more set up than I have time for right now. Do any bassists here in London have a nice fretless bass, they wouldn't mind me coming by for a few hours to hang out and record with, please? I'll be super gentle! I can bring over my Zon or Wal bass, if someone wanted to give either a play. Thanks a million! Brett
2. Martin bought a GT-6B from me, wonderful chap and very easy to deal with. Very good communication. Trade with confidence!
3. My flock has turned into a gaggle... PH-3 is on hold, and Morley monster wah is sold.
4. My guess with DI vs Mic vs DI/Mic might be as simple as what people agree sound best in the mix. Probably what makes finding an answer to this one pretty difficult... everyone's got their own experiences, and depends entirely from one rig to the next. I just watched a Meshuggah gear vid actually, and the guitars and bass are all di'd! No cabs. Actually their live set up is nuts with geekdome, worth checking out. For the ramp, actually check out this Billy Sheehan video. He talks about "playing on the pickup", and the idea of the ramp is exactly the same. Fast forward to 2:25 =) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CAGinmT9Po And to JapanAxe, the idea of melding body parts of a dead alien to create a bass for metal would be pretty, er... metal \m/,
5. 1) ahh... Took me a few to get how that finger grip would work, but if you're playing with your thumb... that could make sense. I used to think leftie actually *cough*, except too many basses had it that were also stringed for right hand players, so figured something else was going on. 2) The ground things makes sense... I understood the purpose, but not what you're losing by engaging it. Cheers for the insights!
6. I had a couple questions niggling the back of my mind that have always just sat there: 1) Anyone see a reason for thumb rests to be below the strings of a bass? Ex 2) What is the point of a ground lift switch? Couldn't the pedal or amp be made already ground lifted permanently? 3) What is the best bass for metal? *whistles innocently* Thanks!
7. Bumpity Bumpity pricey droppy.
8. bumpity bumpity with a happy price drop!
9. CEB-3 sold, adjusted prices on others.
10.
Zoom Ultra Fuzz for the Tremulus?
Great pedal, Bobbass4k! First I'd heard of it. I'll pass atm, but if GAS for it starts building I'll check back. Cheers!
11. EDIT: Price drop to £1150. Also, for the curious, the bass is actually called a Classic Stingray, I didn't just add the 'Classic' as a colourful, enticing adjective =) In the same way there's a Fender P-Bass, and a Fender Deluxe P-Bass. The Classic is the Deluxe of the Stingray world. Rock on!
12. Pickle Pie was on hold, back to available. A couple people have offered Filter pedals for trade, I'm pretty okay on those, but keep cool stuff incoming!
13. Flock of pedals for sale/trade: [s]Boss Line Selector LS-2 - £55[/s] (SOLD) [s]Boss Phase Shifter PH-3 - £40[/s] (SOLD) [s]Boss Chorus CEB-3 - £30[/s] (SOLD) [s]Wren And Cuff Pickle Pie Hella Fuzz B (with blend knob) - £100[/s] (SOLD) Tremulus Lune (deluxe Tremolo pedal) - £70 EHX Big Bass Muff Pi (un-modded) - £45 [s]Morley Power Wah Volume - £45[/s] (SOLD) Pedals are all in good working condition. I have no boxes for any of them (due to a giant transatlantic move), but I've got the manuals for most. I live in London, so consider that when adding p&p to the above prices. I'm also willing to make trades for other interesting toys! Cheers!
14. Boss GT-6B multi-effects processor for sale/trade. Amazing unit in very good condition. No rust or loose parts... still solid as a tank and used only in the rehearsal studio. No box, but can include a printed off manual to get you going. I live in London, so please consider that in p&p (or pick up if nearby). [s]£130[/s] £115. (SOLD) Cheers!
15. Line 6 M13 multi-effects processor for sale/trade. Incredible piece of gear, with over 100 tweakable effects. Great on guitar or bass, customize to your hearts delight, then save it for easy access later. Very user friendly, unlike many other effects units. This one is in very good condition with a couple things of note. The plastic adaptor has a crack, and has been taped for preventative measures. Secondly, the far right "Press For Type" toggle switch has trouble switching effects banks and takes a bit of fudgetting. Not an issue when turning effects on or off or tweaking loaded effects, it only affects when moving to effect-types... distortions to modulations, for example. Hence the VERY good price and something probably very easily fixable. I live in London, so please consider that in p&p (or pickup if easier). [s]£200[/s] £185 obo. (SOLD) Cheers!
16. Flock of pedals for sale/trade: Boss Line Selector LS-2 - £55 Boss Phase Shifter PH-3 - £45 Boss Chorus CEB-3 - £30 (the selector switch is acting a bit funny... takes a couple pushes to switch it on/off, hence low price as I'm sure it's an easy fix) Wren And Cuff Pickle Pie Hella Fuzz B (with blend knob) - £100 Tremulus Lune (deluxe Tremolo pedal) - £75 EHX Big Bass Muff Pi (un-modded) - £50 Morley Power Wah Volume - £50 Pedals are all in good working condition, minus the CEB-3 noted above. I have no boxes for any of them (due to a giant transatlantic move), but I've got the manuals for most. I live in London, so consider that in p&p. I'm also willing to make trades for interesting toys. Cheers!
17. EDIT: It was a bit niche, so I've included as a straight sale as well, and can use the funds to buy a Rick instead =D Also, for those hesitating because I'm new to Bass Chat, my user name on Talk Bass is 'iD Entity' and I have an ebay account 'idzentity' (spot a theme *cough*), and have 100% positive feedback on both.
18.
Are there mutes on the bridge? Any idea what year?? Check the serial No here: http://www.musicmanb...tompage0028.htm
Other than the mentioned uglies, the bass is in shiny condition, so yep, the string mutes are all there, and unused =) The DoB is June 2010.
19. For Trade or Sale: THE GOOD: Musicman Classic Stingray 4 string. Bought in 2011. The bass is in excellent condition. I play on 5 strings, so this was never gigged, and played only lightly. Solid Ash slab body. Maple neck. Passive humbucker with active 2-band preamp. Chrome parts. This bass just sounds bad ass. Check out Ed Friedland's review: https://www.youtube....S&v=rJN72FvjST0 Also included is the original Hardshell case, in prime condition, with all case candy included (still in the package!). THE BAD: It's not for free =( TRADE: I'm looking to trade the bass for a Rickenbacker 4003. For the curious, after trying a Rickenbacker a while back, I found it felt better in my hands. That's it. Tone wise, I love both, but only really need one 4 string around. SALE: [s]£1150[/s] [s]£1100[/s] [SOLD] I'll also be switching back in the original tuner and strap buttons (unless you can convince me to include them). The UGLY: There is a ding on the headstock I've tried to capture. Also a tiny spec on the back of the neck, that was too small for the camera. ======================================================================================================== Feel free to message me for more pics, details or whatnot. I live in London, so please keep that in mind. I'm willing to travel for the right trade, but within reason of course =) Peace!

About the extra pickup and midi frets... Does the extra pickup displace the two humbuckers from the standard Wal positions, and if so how much effect on sound does this have? Also, what is that extra pickup for exactly... midi or regular? Finally, I've seen pics of the midi frets, and they look like they're split in four by tiny grooves. Do the grooves in the frets affect when you string bend? Sorry for questions, not very familiar with midi Wals.
