1. TBH the good reviews were why i used Thomann, however it seems i'm not alone with the issue's i had. There is a few case's here and there with people having issue's, unfortunately it looks like i was unlucky. But to expect what they wanted to do was ridiculous.
They point blank refused to accept responsibility even after i had pointed out that the outer box was undamaged but the inner box was wrecked.
Very poor.

2. No Worries.
The bass turned up damaged so i emailed them, They got back to me asking for pictures and a damage report which is fair enough. They replied asking if i would take a discount and offered me a very low ball amount. Not wanting to pay out for a damaged bass i said no and i wanted to send the bass back. They once again got back to me stating that i must fill out some paperwork, I thought this was a bit odd but wanted this sorting out.
8 pages of paperwork was then sent to me. The first 5 pages were a prefilled damage report in German that they expected myself and a post office worker to fill out. Long story short, they expected me to take the bass to the post office and make parcelforce take responsibility for all the damage (bearing in mind that they use DHL in germany). Expecting them to fill out paperwork that's in a foreign Language and admit that they were at fault. (not going to happen)
It took me 5 days of writing emails back and forth to finally get the bass sent back. I have yet to receive my refund.
There website claims 100% satisfaction! What a load of B"*£$X i'll never use them again.
I know over people have had the same sort of issue's with them. The annoying thing is with out the damage the bass was really nice instrument.

3. If my recent dealings with Thomann are anything to go by, I can understand why so few basses get sent back. Don't get me wrong. The HB jazz basses are fantastic instruments with the ash body and branded pickups (not taking anything away from the J&D bass). Mine was damaged in transit so I wanted to return it, The most hassle I have ever had returning anything in my life.
Back on topic though, The surf green ones look lovely.

4. Hi all
Could anyone recommend where to take my bass to get it set up. I'm in Exeter Devon, I know about Mansons (good & bad) but i was wondering if i had overlooked anyone.
Thanks in advance.

Also could anyone recommend some strings for a Sterling SUB 4.

5. Thanks for all the reply's. I have decided to exchange the bass for another, I wasn't happy with the damage or the discount. What really bugs me is the way it was packaged, Little box put into big box then some pillow packs on top. There were enough of the pillow packs to line the bottom of the box then wrap around the guitar box then finally putting some on top. I put 3 layers in each area to send it back.
Whats stopping them from doing this, they provide enough packaging,
Fingers crossed for the next bass.

Anyone want to sell me there HB Jazz bass :D

6. Update.
Well the jazz bass turned up so HNGD or so i thought :( It seems somewhere along the line a courier has decided to ruin a perfectly nice instrument, It turned up with the inner box completely wrecked, weirdly the outer box was fine!?
Result a major dent in the headstock, bent tuning peg and the lower strap pin bent which now won't tighten. Contacted Thomann to see what they suggested, They have offered me a 25 euro discount (£20). Personally I'm not that happy with the discount but maybe i'm being a bit unfair.
What do the basschat massive think. Take the discount or return the bass for another?
Cheers

7. Gas is a cruel mistress, I have just pulled the trigger on the sunburst model. After much deliberation I went for the rosewood board. I already have a bass with a maple board and though a bit of variety wouldn't go amiss.
I shall report back when I have received the bass although the pepperoni pickguard may have to be swapped out.

8. Hi all.
I have a bit of a an itch for a jazz bass at the moment, but with a baby on the way and other boring stuff i don't have a lot to spend. I was looking at the Harley Benton basses on the thomann site.

http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_jb_75_sb_vintage_serie.htm

Anybody had one?
Can anyone tell me if any of these basses are worth the money. Do i need to figure in a decent set up or anything like that or would they be playable out of the box? I'm liking the maple board model however i can' t tell if the "binding and blocks" are painted on or not.
Any info on these would be a real helpful.
Cheers

9. Hi all
Due to being kicked out of my practice room i have a 3 way guitar stand for sale.
Same one as this.
http://www.getinthemix.com/drum-kits/accessories/gorilla-3-way-multi-guitar-stand.htm?gclid=CKqQ3I61wL8CFQQFwwodJKkAYA
The stand is in good condition however i had to replace a couple of the bolts on construction.
The plastic tightening wheels were junk and crumpled in my hand as i tightened them. I replaced them with some allen key bolts.
Not a lot more to say really, I'll get some pics up soon.
Cheers

£10 posted or can be collected from exeter.

10. Hi all.
I was just wondering if anyone had heard from bassdoc recently. I sent an inquiry over regarding a custom pick guard a while ago but have heard nothing back.
Is bassdoc still in business?
Staying on topic, could anyone tell me how much he charges for tort shell p bass pickguards?
Cheers

11. Hi all
I've recently decided to start playing bass again after attempting to learn guitar. The thing is i don't really have a ton of money for lessons and there is a serious lack of tutors in my area (Exeter).
I spotted Scott Devines site. which looks both informative and helpful. I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on his "academy" option. It cost around £50 a year and seems like good value. There is a total beginners course and he also offers a 30 day money back guarantee.
Any feedback is appreciated. also if anyone can point me in the direction of a good bass tutor in or around Exeter that would be great.

12. Thanks for all the replys, really liking the look of the peavey basses, were they really nearly £250 brand new or is that gg fibbing a little?

The bass I found on the bay is literally just down the road from me in the same town, I'm wondering if I can maybe knock him down a bit on price.
