1. I do find that listening to drums/beats one i have an original idea can take the song in whole new directions. I suppose that's sort of the closest thing to jamming with a band, other than jamming with a band lol. I also really like humming stuff while i walk my dogs, but to paraphrase Skol303 the amount of stuff i've probably lost by the time i get my DAW up and running is biblical. Although i do have garage band on my phone now which is straight up ridiculous how good it is and what it can do . On a phone!!! Madness.
2. I second that emotion. Really good.
3.
Niiiice! I really like the way it chugs along with that pounding rhythm and power chords. That synth rimshot sound is an inspired addition - is that from an 808 or something? Very distinctive sound.
Sorry man, actually yeah that is a little programmed beat using BOOM in pro tools and yeah i think i had it set to either the 808 or the 909 setting. Just thought it gave it a little something, slightly less organic sounding maybe lol.
4.
Nice one Elvis, like it and great rapping at the end
What can i say KRS1 has nothing on me.lol
Niiiice! I really like the way it chugs along with that pounding rhythm and power chords. That synth rimshot sound is an inspired addition - is that from an 808 or something? Very distinctive sound. I'm no slapper myself (or so I like to think… ) but your playing sounds great to me. Like the vocals too - personally I'd enter the vocal mix into this month's challenge (think is has more going for it). The horns are cool too - in fact there's lots going on in this track but it all fits together nicely. Another great entry - it's shaping up to be a crackin' month! I need to pull my finger out and get mine done this week...
Its actually just a live snare but its a really nice bamboo snare with some compression. Thanks guys, i appreciate the response. I suppose i'll enter the vox mix then.
5. Seriously impressed by the entries so far. Here's mine for the hell of it. http://soundcloud.co...alentine/ghosts There is a vocal edit too but its me singing and i wanted a female voice to do it. Its also lyricly not very in keeping with the pictures, well at least not the Saville pic at all, although the day of the dead pic a bit more so. Or at least what it made me think of. I also do a spectacular rap towards the end , i have mad skills. lol here it is for those interested parties. 6. Well worth it then. I assume it plays nice and sounds sweet lol.
7. And what did it cost you to restore? I have a mate who would love it so bad. Big Hooky fan.
8. That is my question, what was it like good or bad? they look really nice but i have not heard too much about them. This one has a pretty picture on it lol. 9. lovely stuff. How much did you pick it up for if you dont mind me asking?
10. Howdy folks, i need a saddle and screw for the Low E. http://www.rosetti.co.uk/Browse/Spares/Epiphone/Bridge-Parts this site has the saddle but not the screw. Well it has screws but they don't look like the screws that are in the bridge already. will any of the other screws be suitable? Also the saddles i have left are all numbered and the bit where the strings sit is consequently a different size for each string. These all seem to be the same size. Will that be ok? Thanks everyone. I hope this isnt too much of a ramble to understand.
11. They sound great 51mon and they sound like you had a lot of fun with the mixing. As i said pretty epic, elaborate at times and interesting. I would definitely appreciate a little EQ lesson.
12. No not especially, but neither did his Imogen Heap thing particularly. Just good. I think it does sound live - ish.(which imho is a good thing) I get the sense of a big space. I really like it. I suppose the obvious comparison would be (and in the best possible way, as i love her) Kate Bush. Y'know quite epic. But also maybe kind of like FOE as well in a more modern quirky pop/rock female way. Either way its good.
13. I dont relly know why im posting this. I never used to be a fan of this band (except the drummer) but since getting friendly with the cats in QOTSA they got a lot better and this in my opinion is the best thing they have ever done. The song is badass, as is the video. Gotta love that bass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQH8ZTgna3Q
14. If i stayed in Londonium i would definitely be there. I have had a fair few listens to the stuff on bandcamp now , very catchy.
15. That is to say, its good i liked it
16. I do not doubt for a second he knows his stuff Silddx. I have a friend who used to do the sound at the bush hall the link you posted reminds me slightly of a live recording he did of Imogen Heap there.
17. Hey thats what i was after, honesty. Cheers. There is very little limiting going on. I am by no means a pro (obviously lol) this is just a bedroom recording, albeit one that i am pretty happy with. The thing i think is that i have no real idea about e.q. so the have not really been e.q.ed other than a few slightly modified presets. And as i say i need better speakers i think. I know that you cant pollish a turd. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Any of the songs you thought were better than others?
18. Aye, perhaps not. I could really do with getting a semi decent pair of reference monitors. Cheers.
19. Thanks for the feedback Skol. Kings of Leon were a great band and im interested to see what they do next as the last 2 albums were pretty freakin weak really imho. But definitely appreciate the early KOL reference. I agree with it being a bit muddy . i was thinking of giving them to a friend to master and maybe he could add a little sparkle to the hi end. Thanks again man.
20. lol well i suppose i'll return the favour and go listen to yours.
21. The Jim Jones Revue - the savage heart. Saw them a couple of weeks ago and it was indeed a rawkus rawk n roll show.
22. Thanks Blademan. I appreciate that.
23. Nice one. Thanks Silddx. I thought were being quite critical and then i remembered that we have a song called Its not the bomb... lol The singer has often been compared to REM or J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr in the past. I can kind of see both of those. Cheers again.
24. Might not be exactly what you mean but i used to use Native Instruments guitar rig and a macbook i loved some of the sounds i got from that but it was too expensive to carry around to most gigs for my liking. Basically every sound imaginable. Well not quite. I also liked amplitube sometimes especially on guitar.
25. Thanks a lot Pinball. REM cant be a bad thing :-)
