Thanks for the info. I'm no expert so you may be correct. The serial number is V034780, does that help any further in giving it the correct re-issue year?

I have the non-Sting signed version of this which I love but when i rest my thumb on the pickup it keeps slipping off due to the fact that the pickup end is rounded, any advice?

I've got the 2x10 version and it's the best combo I've had so far.
Have a BUMP on me! -
Any suggestions for a good compressor unit?
I think my problem has been that for most of my playing career I've been a bass player/lead vocalist and by the time i've set up the PA there's been very little time to mess about with my amp. I guess I should find a decent compressor(the TC compressor is just a one knob level adjustment) and take my bass amp to a practice room and just mess about with it at gig volume. -
My current amp(TC Electronics BH500) has compression and that was one of the main reasons why I bought it but it still can't match the sound of a compressed audio track played through my PA. The compression used on studio tracks must be better I guess?

I've been playing bass guitar for about 20 years and this problem has puzzled me for all of that time. Why is it that no matter what power bass rig I use, it never sounds as loud or as powerful as a bass line played on a recorded track played through my PA system. I have also tried my bass DI'd through the PA and that is nowhere near as powerful as a recorded track played through the same PA.
I have no problem getting a nice tone on my bass amp at low volume but it always breaks up when I try to push it to a giggable volume.
This has brought me close to packing in playing live bass a number of times and has caused me to chop and change my bass and amp set up on a regular basis.
Anyone else had this problem? -
Where are you located and is postage an option?
Can you give us a little bit more detail about the guitar, i.e. is it active or passive etc. -
Just sold my Warwick Corvette to Huxley.
Glad to see the bass has gone to a good home, quick payment and a nice guy to deal with. Buy or sell with confidence. -
Thanks for all of the photos.
I was thinking more about replacing the precision pickup with a musician pickup but I can see the flexibility of keeping the original pickup and adding the second. -
Cheers guys, thanks for your replies

I was chatting to the Bassdoc this morning as he was seting up a bass for me and I asked him if he'd ever built a precision bodied bass with a musicman pickup.
He said he done a modification to an existing Fender Precision with a 2 band eq but he didn't have any photos.
Does anyone out there have any photos of a Fender Precision with a musicman pickup fitted so I can see what it might look like if I get this done?
Cheers

Nice colour, I saw one of these on here a few years ago for £600 and I wished I'd bought that one! They must be appreciating in value, good luck with the sale.

I'll change the title to 50's re-issue rather than 51 re-issue to avoid any confusion.
