    is the track specifically composed for oceans 11? Can be a bit tricksy clearing soundtrack music for tv at least.  We used to be able to manage to clear silvascreen recordings. I'd look there as at least you are not dealing with the movie company.

    they tend to re-record with city of prague orchestra or something similar. 

    Its all moved on a lot where if a track was PRS registered, I could clear it easily. Now it has to be a 100% PRS publisher meaning we cant clear the majority of US music and some uk stuff. Eg- I wanted to clear 25 secs of a tv theme for International use (essentially a tv prog for worldwide, all media in perpetuity) and I was quoted around £1500. our music team have to contact each publisher on each occasion so we no longer use any commercial music as we need to sell the programme on fully cleared.

    I'd like to think a podcast would be cheaper!

    I cant comment on the pricing as we have blanket agreements with them. One thing I will say is that a lot of the libraries will message you personally when you register and help with specific music searches.

    extreme music have an online live chat option and they send you options real time. They all have have plenty of filters and audio network even used to have an option where you could tap in the tempo with the space bar. 

    I dont tend to do much editorially but if people have specific requests I never search. I just ask the companies for music reccomendations. 

    Ive used lots of Pond5 footage in programmes and its all been very professional and quite easy but never used thier tracks. no doubt they are worth a punt

  2. bass lead amp for me. I tend to use my guitarists pedal tuner as well at the start as I keep my pedal tuner in the bag. With the gigs I do, I rarely use my own amp and quite happy to borrow so as to avoid shifting gear. I tend to sound the same regardless of the amp. Maybe its because I'm always nice to the soundie/ monitor person before hand.

    okey doke. 

    the editors and directors tend to follow eachother music wise hence lots of bass but they tend to like using new things all the time. Im having to do some paperwork for an ep at the mo that has absolutely tonnes of music edits within it- nearly every track runs for about 5 secs! These all have to be inputted by me. (its becoming an automated system very soon)

    On average there are at least 2 songs in each ep that have the word funk in the title

    Been at the beeb on and off since 2007 (permanently since 2011). We are now BBC Studios as opposed to the public service part. (we now make programmes for pretty much any channel)

  4. What track are you talking about? The theme or the music beds? if.you can give me an example /date of an ep I can tell you exactly who the composer is. Im currently doing the paperwork for series 63 and 64 for my sins. I can't remember the composer of the theme (it's a duo) though the version has been rearranged by Mike mower. Track is called hot to trot on atmosphere. For the past few years all of the music is from music libraries, no commercial music used unless its a special (they then strip out commercial tracks for an international version). So many of the tracks have the word funk in the title! Some of the libraries music is really well made

  5. charity gigs where too many bands have been booked. 

     

    being asked to turn up 3 hours before you are playing and then having to wait around whilst the other bands soundcheck. you then have to manage put your gear around theirs with no time for even a line check or tune up.

    Nottingham has always been a weird place when it comes to mainstream success as a musician/band. The late 70s/early 80s produced plenty of contenders who should have been massive but managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Anyone remember Medium Medium (signed to Cherry Red), 23 Jewels (had a single of the week in NME), 1,000,000 Fuzz-tone Guitars, The Howdy Boys, None So Blind (their debut single was produced by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics) or Pinski Zoo?

     

    Six by seven are from nottingham I think? one of my favourite bands back in the day. always had amazing support acts as well.

  8. My first purchase in a few years.

    I've always wanted a block and bound lpb jazz with matching headstock and now have one.

    Price wise I couldnt resist as it seemed a bargain.

    Starting to wonder whether it would be more suitable for a funk band and a bit flashy for me!

    Not seen many of these around, serial number suggests 2004-05, possibly seen one on this site before so maybe the same one.

  9. Some guitarist named Andy McKee. Nice enough acoustic stuff but all very samey and no real oomph. It was a sit down gig and I was pretty near the front so for fear of offence I stayed until the interval.

     

    Nme tour when the datsuns headlined.  Very underwhelming  as polyphonic spree played just before them.

    corrosion of conformity with clutch as support. Bought the tickets to see clutch and had Never heard the headliners before so was willing to given them a chance,  2 songs was enough.

     

     

     

  10. I've been looking for an age to get one.

    I managed to buy a budget one second hand that turned out to be a gibson copy except its long scale for not a lot of money. Im in the process of gradually getting it fixed up but the longscale neck makes it not so nice to play.

    I live in hope of a new rivoli to  be released.

    Revelation guitars have a good rep I believe, there is this model that caught my eye but havent seen one in the flesh.

  11. I thought I'd reopen this thread.

    I tried various stripping products including acetone and got off most of the yucky paint. so much of the body had been badly sanded that any hope of patching it up just seemed pretty pointless. 

    As I had some time on my hands I went in and sanded the front and back with a low grit. 

    I've left the sides and neck (the sides have been  badly sanded but only roughly.

    Not sure I can face doing them!

    here's a pic of it, managed to stop going through original sealant, the white patches are where the previous owner and probably me sanded through. 

    any ideas what I should do next? I figure I need to go through a few grits to make it nice and smooth. I was thinking maybe stain it a vintage red and lacquer it. or stain and oil?

    I have ideas of maybe changing the decal to chibson also.
