  1. It does seem a bit heavy but not the heaviest bass I've ever had. I've sorted out the nut for the time being until the new one arrives, I just put some of the peeled off plastic from the scratchplate in the nut slot and that's done the job.

Really pleased with it though :)

I saw the thread about the J&D basses and thought I would get one and see what they are like! Always wanted a surf green, with maple and blocks jazz and now I've got one!

It plays great and sounds great too, the frets have a slight hint of sharpness but not noticeable when actually playing.

The only issue is the d string has been cut too low in the nut so when playing an open d there's a fair bit of buzz. I did speak to Dv247 and they said they could replace the bass or get their tech to have a look at it. I've decided I'll sort it out myself as I plan on changing bits on it anyway and the nut was one of them and the fact it plays and sounds great otherwise.

I plan on changing all the chrome bits for black parts, so far I have ordered a black graphtech nut, a black bridge and black string tree. So I'll post more pics once I've done them :)

    Do you mean this?

I did actually briefly own the P/J ripper but really didn't get on with it and couldn't get a sound I liked from it! I'm sure the older epiphone version was/is better

Are you gigging? It's always worth having a backup bass, but if the Fender has lost its magic sell it and get the Epiphone equivalent of your Gibson?

No not gigging any more and no plans to in the near future, just happy doing videos for my YouTube channel!

  5. In a nutshell:

I had a Shuttle 9.0 which was good for clean tone and for headphone practice playing along to songs.

I also had an OBT1000 which was very loud but didn't have a headphone option but easily got dirty.

Both were through a Barefaced Super 12(G1)

  6. SOLD!

    Was £475 Was £450 Now £425

For sale is my well worn Fender Highway One, which is fitted(just) with Fender Road Worn Pickups. This has been my number 1 bass since I got it and have loved it, but since getting my Gibson G3, it hasn't seen much playing as I feel the G3 plays and sounds better to me and more what I'm after.

Get yourself a real road worn bass for way less than an actual Fender Road Worn bass!!!!

That said it is a great bass and is the upgraded Highway with a, sunburst nitro finish, I believe it has a graphite re-enforced trussrod/neck and has a Badass 2 bridge.

I am including as well the Fender truss rod tool which is 3/16 inches as seemingly that's the only thing that I have that actually fits the truss rod hole.

Also the strings are about 3 year old Ernie Balls!

From the pictures you'll see there is a lot of wear, there is a small chip out of the back of the neck which I have tried getting in a picture but it doesn't effect the playing in anyway.

The pickups were slightly too big to fit directly in so I had to remove some of the wood behind the scratchplate for them to fit in nicely. If you unscrew the outer two screws on the pickups the scratchplate will come off, but just a note, it takes a bit of jiggling around to get it back on, but it does fit on. Also there isn't any foam under the pickups so they seemingly can't be adjusted, however they are quite low which I prefer so my pick doesn't hit them, or the strings, but it still gives out a good signal.

The tone control is still fitted I've just taped over the hole and tucked it into the cavity, but it doesn't have the knob on it as that always used to come off at gigs so I ended up just getting rid of it years ago and never replaced it.

I'm based in Aylesbury which isn't far from London, Oxford and Milton Keynes just to give you an idea of where I am, but can drive and meet up with whoever is interested in the bass which would be preferred, but I can also post it. I haven't got a soft case or much packaging so if you could bare with me while I get some then I can get it nicely and safely packaged up if that is what you would prefer.

    Any questions please ask!

  7. Hello everyone got a bit of a question that I would like people's input on.

Since getting my dream bass the Gibson G3, my Fender Highway One P has been barely played. I've tried playing it but it just doesn't feel and sound as good to me as the G3 so I don't play on it for long and always end up back on the G3.

    What would you do?

Keep it but all it would be doing is collecting dust

    Sell it

Really not sure what to do so would appreciate some opinions!

    Thanks
