1. I watched it yesterday. Had been really looking forward to it and was a bit disappointed. It seemed like the singers (Almond and Mvula especially) struggled with the timing and phrasing. So did I in Life on Mars. Lady grinning soul was great as was Warzawa. Appeared as if the monitoring was a bit rubbish as timings seemed to ebb and flow with singers appearing to struggle. Liked the idea though and agree Bowie would likely have loved it based on his past collaborations. Also thought Neil Hannon did a good job.

Here tis. You forgot to mention some blokes on the drums and guitar! Phil Collins and Pete Townsend. Some lovely footage of MK around the 2m05s mark.

Ah yeah - those two. I reckon if they keep practicing they'll do OK ha ha

3. Only yesterday saw the Midge Ure No Regrets performance with Mick on bass for the first time. The sound was amazing. Remember seeing him at Tiffany's in Leeds with Japan back in the day, he was completely mesmerising as he appeared to move back and forth as if on casters head wobbling furiously. Pioneer.

4. To echo many of the comments above - I agree the 8 x 10 is an amazing cab. Sounds great BUT there are lots of downsides depending on your circumstances:
It's huge - takes up lots of room to store and play with, depends on your typical stage size - may be too big for stage and your car
Its heavy - difficult to move on your own on anything but flat ground, stairs are more than a challenge without another pair of hands

If none of those are issues for you, i'd go for it. Again, bargains are there to be had

Good luck (I went from Ampeg 8 x 10 to Orange 2x12 - now that's almost polar opposites)

Greetings also from Nottingham!

One thing I’ve always found with these types of strap-locks (assuming that it’s the “Schaller” type that most Fenders come with these days) is that the hole in the strap needs to be wide enough to accommodate the enlarged threaded part of the strap lock. If it is just standard size, the strap creates too much friction and loosens the nut(s).

This is why companies who make more expensive straps (like Heistercamp for example), give you the option of larger holes for use with this type of lock.

A good hardware store (or even better, a “proper” saddlery) will usually have a large hole-punch to do this job and charge you pennies for doing it. I’ve also done it myself using an offcut of appropriately-sized copper pipe and hammered it through the leather onto a chopping board. I’ve also done it with a cordless drill but that tends to fray it a little.

If your strap is only a very cheap one, the chances are that the ends of the strap won’t be proper leather and so won’t take the widening so you might need to replace your strap.
Agree - i bough a set of punches from EBay - cheap. I enlarge the holes in my straps before fitting the washer and nuts and they tighten properly - no more coming undone

6. I've just had another one. Perfect. They're quite close to where I live so I prefer to go in and see them. You defo get a better measurement PLUS, not only can you choose your options in terms of colours, thickness, pockets, straps, additional protection in the front for a cab/amp BUT you get to meet the boys. They are great fun and love to talk. As good as it gets. Now Silverstone!!!!!!!.......that's a different story ha ha

7. I have managed to find a local body painter and have opted to let them both strip and paint the body. Its a Geddy signature that has been modded so has all black hardware and a black bound neck with black inlays and a red torty pick guard.
I want the body to be green but can't decide on the shade.

Which would yo choose?

Undecided Andy

8. I went to Nashville and Memphis in May. Ace. Nashville has the strip which is full of bars and Honky Tonks. Almost every bar has one or more bands on at any time. Different floors, same bar, different bands. Just enjoy the ambience. It's amazing. TAKE ID they ask everywhere irrespective of age. Im 53!
Memphis and Beale St are as you'd expect, same tons of bars and bands in each. We saw an amazing Jerry Lee Lewis tribute in place and the standard of musicianship is off the scale. Many bars serve in plastic glasses then punters can walk up and down as people tend to hang on the street (which is pedestrianised) and stop outside any bar. BB Kings club was great too BUT def worth checking Graceland, Sun Records, Stax Museum and the Gibson Factory tours. It is scruffy and a bit seedy but felt safe enough. The food was awesome too. Barbecue everywhere! You will not be disappointed. Enjoy.
