Really, it doesn't matter too much where the tuner is, but if it's at the very end of the chain, it also acts as a very effective mute. If it's at the start of the chain and you leave loads of effects on while you tune, yes your bass signal is muted, but you could still have effected pedal noise going to your amp.
I always preferred putting it at the front because then you don't have to turn everything off to tune up! But, yeah, it doesn't matter that much!

Thank you, I had convinced myself I had seen IEM that you could pull the drivers out and put filters in, but I must have completely imagined it.
I had an unpleasant experience after my last gig. I was using basic non custom IEM and pulled one out to hear what was going on. I didn’t realise it but my left ear (with the phones still in) took a hammering and was not good on my drive home.
That was almost two weeks ago and the past few days I have noticed a high pitch ringing which I can only assume is tinnitus, which I think must be related.
I need to get something to take care of my ears so I think some custom ear plugs will be a good start.
ACS do some. I had a previous version that sounded worse than some cheap buds and the cable was super microphonic. Don't know if they've improved, but I'd be hesitant based on my previous experience.

I once tried to sell some flats on Facebook that had only been lightly used. Got some serious abuse from people telling me I was disgusting for selling used strings! There's all sorts out there...

You can't really blame companies for being leery about fixing something bought used.
It also isn't very responsible as a manufacturer to not support a product repair at all. In the age of planned obsolescence and massive amounts of e-waste, surely helping out an amp tech to repair a product isn't the worst idea. And just reputationally, being that unhelpful doesn't win repeat/new business.

Congratulations. You’ve made it !
It's a weird thing. We've only played the one gig and released the one EP. Must be desperate for content! 😅

That is too cool! Just read it while walking the pup.
So drop c with the high string tuned to c?
Whats that look like? CGCFC?
Yes, that exactly. Still not quite got my head around transitioning from the high C to the F, but it's fun.

Hah!
The guitarists in my band were gutted I had a request at all 🤣 Never had that before!
Joel over at BassEmpi.re asked if he could interview me, and I eventually got round to it after waiting on some pictures.

Currently I'm planning to hang the pickup from the pickguard with foam undeneath to dampen it. The foam is optional.
This is rather overengineered as I think it through. This is a case that a pickup goes in, so the smaller lugs hold it in place, the larger lugs screw through the pickguard into a captive m2.5 nut in the large lugs. A spring goes between the large lug and the pickguard a la Stratocaster.
And here it is cross section
It looks really neat and tidy though. I like it!

this is one of my favourite hacking scenes ever. So silly.
Ah yes, one person at a keyboard isn't working? Adding a second clearly won't get in the way... Also I do prefer to add nonsense on screen while I hack someone's computer. Really let them know they're being hacked! 🤣

Guitar pickups tend to have threaded mounting holes. I don't think bass pickups tend to do that, so you'd need some way of fastening a nut to the underside or tap a thread into the bass pickup.
If you can engineer something that works, I'd say go with whatever seems like the smallest headache!

And Ashdown have put up a video now.

Jaco... I don't really like fretless bass. I don't like burpy bridge pickups soloed. (I mean, who wants to listen to burps?!?) I can appreciate the musicianship, but I really don't care for what he does. It doesn't speak to me at all.

Yeah, and with appropriate cables and the wireless footswitch, you could potentially even gig with it as a fly rig on a tiny pedalboard. Mount a battery underneath as an extra power supply. Make a little box that connects the Katana Go to a jack cable so it's all neat and tidy and send the headphone out to a DI box. Pass through from the DI can go to a powered speaker.
I must say I think I'd quite like one. If the sounds aren't that different from my GX-100, I'd be a happy bunny.

This looks good. Guitar and bass tones. I think this might be the Goldilocks device for me at the moment. Not that I'm in a position to buy at the moment, but it's cool.
£120, option to add (expensive) wireless footswitch.
Doesn't do the head turning thing of the Waza Air, but still seems good. Anderton's have a video on their product page too.

I wish they'd stop making AI for things that humans like to do and focus on things that humans don't like to do. I don't want it to make music for me. I want AI to trawl through the internet in its entireity to find the best insurance deals, not just price comparison websites. Or one that scans a recipe and adds the ingredients to my online supermarket shop, highlighting somewhere that sells something my supermarket doesn't stock.

People tend to have smaller cars here? Or are we just more sensible? No idea really.
A big rack unit never appealed to me personally - I don't want to carry more than I need to and I prefer the form factor of pedals/multi FX to rackmount gear for stage use.
If I was touring stadiums, I can really see the advantages of rack gear. It can all be safely stored and moved, spares can be kept in the same rack, etc. For playing pubs and small venues, I'd say it's a bit overkill. I'm sure there will be others who disagree though!

Do you know what the print medium was?
I have used Streetshirts.co.uk in the past and found the print quality good. Very like screen printed ink. The online "design" app is a bit pants though.
I did a simple design for the band to have a shirt each and one of our fav punters and used tshirtstudio it seems more like a transfer print which I don't like but the quality is fine.
Both the above are reasonably cheap and do quantity discounts.
It was screen printed onto a Gildan t-shirt. I've got one and it's washing really well.

We've had some some made by this lot. About £6 per t-shirt. Took about three weeks for the first run, only about a week for the second. I guess it takes longer to get the initial thing made up.

Long... and slightly cheeky... shot - need a flight case for a mustang bass for a couple of EU shows in July. I don't want to buy one as normally the bass comes onto the plane with me, but this time due to flight costs it can't.
Anyone point me to somewhere I can rent one - or borrow one from a localish Bass-chatter? I'm Epsom / Surrey but can drive to pick it up - and happy to pay something reasonable for it's use - and leave something as collateral for it's return.
I do actually have one custom made by Flightcase Warehouse, but it is with me in Bristol. If you can make that work, drop me a message.

If you want to use a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), you'll (generally) need an Audio Interface.
An audio interface is a bit of hardware you plug into your computer, usually using a USB cable. It converts your analogue signal into a digital one, ready to be processed by the computer. These generally have an instrument level input on them, so you don't need a dedicated DI, especially if you want to keep it simple.
Within the DAW, you can then add plugins (digital effects) to your signal and process it should you feel the need. You can get amp simulations, compressors and all sorts, like you'd find on a multi effects pedal.
in the DAW, you can also have the song you want to play along to on a separate track, so you can play along to it within the same piece of software.

@hiram.k.hackenbacker - interesting you say the tone control is the secret. I've modded my combustion to have a master tone control. I rather like it!

I once played a supporting slot for St Vincent back in 2009 if that counts. I didn't get to speak to her or anything, but it was a fun first gig for the band!

Should be alright. My Dingwall is in drop C all of the time at the moment. I'm using the Payson set for it. Sounds great. I've even tuned up the A# string to a C as well.

My cousin's husband released an album yesterday of folk music. I've been listening this morning and it's really relaxing...

Hah! My wife said I couldn't get any new guitars in the house until one left. I sent one on long term loan to my father in law and bought a new one 🤣
This Thunderbird looks sweet though.
