I only listened to a couple of bands and the bass wasn't there. The band I watched first was Chic and I couldn't hear any bass whatsoever.
I mean a sound engineer that mixes Chic with no bass, should hang their head in shame.
And I was playing it through hi fi speakers.
They're trying to mix it onsite where they've got enormous PA systems interfering. Even with a closed back headphone mix I can see why they might mix the bass too low.

I had an email while I was at Glastonbury - they've added the android app to the Play Store, so it should install where it didn't for some people. It works for me now 👍
I'm also very much enjoying these NAM profiles: https://www.tone3000.com/tones/ampeg-svt-classic-with-6x10-28202

Celeste
Good but she was a bit peeved that she hadn't been asked to play before. Came off as a bit arrogant.
The Libertines
Fine. Not that exciting. Left to see...
Sprints
A ruddy good band. Their set was energetic and tight. No notes. Brought in Kate Nash for a cover. Excellent tone from a Hagstrom Viking bass. Might have been my favourite bass tone of the weekend.
Rod Stewart
Bad. Really bad. Had to leave. He wasn't in tune, neither were his backing singers most of the time. Though I do wonder if their singing ability was the reason that they were hired.
Goat
Good at what they do, but after I think three songs and 20 minutes, I was bored. Not for me.
St Vincent
Wow. She really goes for it. A big performance, all executed perfectly too. Big stage persona compared to when I played on the same lineup 16ish years ago.
Wolf Alice
I really enjoyed them. I was looking forward to their set and they didn't disappoint.
Olivia Rodrigo
My wife really wanted to see her and I'm glad we did. She really put on a great show and it was a lot heavier than I as expecting.

The Amazons
I heard one track that I thought might be cool, so thought I'd check them out. 90% there on being great, but there's just an element missing. The songs had good elements, but perhaps needed a bit of producing to smoothing things out. Wouldn't watch again. Nice custom Jag bass with a wide range humbucker in the p position and a great tone. Also used a bass VI for a while, but I'm not sure why.
Bess Atwell
She's popped up on lots of playlists of mine. I really enjoyed her, but you won't find it on iPlayer because she was on Avalon.
Japanese Breakfast
Enjoyed this lot. There were a few songs in the middle that were a bit samey, but they came out the other end. The singer had a gong that she used for one song, and liked so pleased to be using it.
Weezer
These guys know how to do a festival slot. Play all of the hits, I was singing along to everything. 10/10 for me!
John Fogerty
We caught the end of his set after Weezer. For an 80 year old, he's great. Was so happy to be there, cracking band too. Blue checked Les Paul was on point.
TV On The Radio
I've been listening to this lot for 15-ish years, which is about when they stopped performing.oved seeing them live. Much heavier in person than on record. Lovely stuff.
Father John Misty
Oooof. You stepped into his world for that performance. He stayed in character for the whole gig. Top quote:
"Is anybody here spiralling? Can I give you some advice? Disassociate completely. Works for me."
😂
Neil Young
We knew his set was going to be self indulgent, but fu*king hell. Not every song needs a 3-5 minute jam on it. It was the quietest I've seen the pyramid all weekend. Really didn't work.
Doechi
Energetic performance. It was good, but not my cup of hip hop tea. A bit too over sexualised for me.

I'm still so tired. Only one day where I did less than 30,000 steps. Drove home after Olivia Rodrigo last night, in bed after a shower by 2am, then the cat was yelling in my face for breakfast by 8am 😴
I think all of the best performances were from bands who really wanted to be there. Those that seemed indifferent were just putting in sub-par performances.

Super grass
Fine. They played well, but never got anyone really going. I think most people in the crowd (including myself) only know their chart hits rather than anything else, and the material wasn't exciting enough to draw people in.
CMAT
She brought it! I hadn't heard her previously, but her and the band were putting out fun vibes that had everyone moving.
Wet Leg
Didn't think they did that well to be honest. Seemed a bit boring. Just didn't draw me in, didn't seem that excited to be there or were too cool for school. I was so drawn in by their 2022 performance. This left me cold and I wish I'd gone up to The Park to see English Teacher instead.
Lewis Capaldi
Saw him in 2023 when he had to finish early. Didn't realise at the time, but it was a good performance. Have since watched the documentary and he seems like a lovely bloke. Very emotional set on a pretty packed pyramid field.
Alanis Morrisette
Banger after banger. Loved that Les Paul bass too.
Biffy Clyro
It was a really good performance. Would hate to be their guitar tech though. Changing out lots of sweaty guitars wouldn't be my idea of a fun Friday night!
Maribou State
Really interesting to watch. They had loved instruments to replace samples from their songs, great singer they brought in. Really surprised me how much I enjoyed their set. Chilled but upbeat. No notes.

Question to anyone who's been, and been to one of the main stages. How annoying are the flags? It just looks like, in some places all you'll see is the back of a flag, or sea of poles.
Suuuuuper annoying when they're in front of the stage. If you're up the hill on Pyramid, you can't see anything happening on stage.
Conversely, they're also super helpful when trying to find crowd as a landmark.

Well, this isn't what I'd hoped for when I started the thread! 😅 I've just seen some amazing circus acts!

I've needed to wear glasses all day due to astigmatism in both eyes since I was 13. I don't get on with contacts either. It felt like I was drunk when I had them in as they moved everytime I blinked, shifting my vision.
At 38, no one has ever told me I don't look the part when playing. I mean, they might have said it out of earshot, but never to my face 😂. I did wear my prescription sunglasses on stage when I was in a hop hip band (at a Christmas party in the photo below!). That worked out surprisingly well. The transitions between the songs for the whole set meant I didn't need a setlist too.
If you need to wear glasses, just wear them. If you need a light bass, get one. There is no point suffering for the sake of vanity - be kind to yourself and your body!

I emailed Sonicake about the Android app not working. I had a reply today saying they're waiting for Google to approve it in the Play Store.

I'm 38 and need to lose a 3 or 4 stone. It's hard when you have a young family. I'm mainly just walking to/from work and nursery. Oh, and working on the gun show by pushing my daughter on the swing 😅 I made a rod for my own back there by pushing her higher and higher and now no-one else pushes hard enough! I used to do a lot of road cycling and I quite liked the gym if it was quiet when I lived closer to one. Bit of weights followed by 20/30 minutes of cardio three times a week and I was pretty darn fit.
Strength training can have a massive effect as you age too. There was an article in the Guardian a while ago about a group of care home residents in the 80s, most of whom required help doing things like standing up from a chair or going to the toilet. They did some strength training, built muscle mass and were then able to do most of those things that they previously required help for. It's never too late to do a bit more exercise.

I think I'm going to get some kettle bells now 😂

Firstly, sorry for the loss of your cousin, that is terrible that it was so short.
I agree with everything you said, but would add the caveat that it can also be the opposite scenarios.
Thanks. It felt like something that happens in a hospital drama, not real life.!
I was just meaning that it goes both ways after someone dies and it isn't always just old people with perhaps more complicated estates.

Admittedly there are. Even in your scenario though, how long has the instrument been left untouched? Theres risk involved in any second hand purchase and I choose to risk as little as I can.
Could only be a few weeks/months. People die at different ages every day and sometimes family members are keen to liquidate assets. Sudden heart attacks, hit by a car. Heck, my cousin (early 40s) died within two weeks of a brain cancer diagnosis.

I've never been to Bristol, but I hope the fog doesn't look like that!
Seriously, though, I feel sorry for anyone who recently bought a Junior Jet and can't buy this one now.
It looks great!
I don't think I've seen any brown fog...

They're definitley going to be poly, so yes, you should be able to scuff it up and paint over the top of it.

Nice to see a Dingwall. Wish i had kept my NG2 5er. Would quite like a 4 string one tho.
Curious what bass rig you were using there. ? Yes i'm a geek. 😂
Dave
As mentioned a few pages ago, it was my Combustion -> GX-100 -> Bass Big Muff/Mojo Mojo in the loop -> Laney Digbeth.
The big head you can see next to me is the guitarist/singers old 70s Yamaha solid state thing. It supposedly imitates a Fender Twin.

It sounds like you might be better served with a preamp pedal of some sort anyway. If you're going direct and don't need any stage volume... It'll be less gear to take to gigs.
Can anyone identify this 8 string bass (with trem!)?

Slight tangent, but I once spent way too long at a bar in Japan trying to get a gin and tonic. I was asking for a "gin ando toniku". Took me a while to re-read the katakana and it was just "gintoniku". Dude got it immediately after that 🙄
