500W Yamaha BBT500H head, plus 2 matching 210 cabs w/ adjustable tweeters. Really good modelling preamp, very versatile with the different amp models (there's distortion and fuzz as well). Semi-parametric EQ (you can change the frequency centres of the 5 tone knobs). Nice adjustable onboard compressor. 2 different types of DI out connection. Includes: BBT500H amp head 2 x BBT210s cabinets shoulder bag for the head speaker cables midi footswitch midi cable All in fairly good condition, was mostly just left in the rehearsal room of my previous band. The paint's slightly scuffed on top of the head(see pic), and one of the cabs has a small nick out of the carpet at the bottom (you can see it in the first pic). The PSU connector on the footswitch doesn't work so the previous owner wired an AC adapter to the battery connector. You can unplug it if you want to run it off batteries though.
I wonder if there's a workshop in the 'States somewhere, turning out 'Vintage Fenders'...
I've heard there's a pretty large cottage industry in japan doing just that. There certainly are lots of vintage fenders around nowadays...
Does it come with the mixer software? ANd just to clarify, does it record each track seperately, or does it record to a pc by mixing down the tracks? Sorry to be asking lots of questions. If your looking for a replacement , If i buy this, Id have a small usb breakout m-audio fast track usb I would no longer need. Works brilliant as a soundcard and 2 track digital recorder.
I'm not too sure what you mean by "mixer software", the drivers come with a program to change all the levels/routing of the ins and outs, and you can do it with the knobs on the front as well - it actually works as a standalone mixer as well, I often play bass through my monitors without turning on the PC. As for recording software, It came with Audiodesk, the MOTU recording program for mac, I think I've got the CD here but I'll have a look round later. Doesn't come with any software for PC though Yes it's got 10 separate inputs and you can record from them all simultaneously. Loads of people have these in their studios, the only band I can think of right now is Scissor Sisters but there's lots more. Gonna have to pass on the usb interface, I'm looking to get a PCI card. Any more questions just ask.
Very interested. How many tracks can be recorded simultaneously? And what Programs does it work with? Cheers
Works with any program you want afaik. It's got 2 mic/instrument inputs on the front, 8 analogue line ins at the back so that's 10 tracks simultaneously, then it's got digital input as well so if you wanted to input more mics you could get a mic preamp with digital outs like this one and get another 8 inputs (I think you can add more than that using s/pdif but that's loads already)

Thought I'd offer this on here before I put it on the bay. High-end audio interface, used by loads of famous people. I did have a fancy laptop setup that I used this and it was great but the laptop's knackered now and I've only been using it as a basic sound card with my desktop PC so I'm going to downgrade to a PCI card instead.
I have never played with anyone that plays better after having a drink or getting stoned. They usually play a lot worse but either don't know or don't care. Sometimes the deterioration is not enough to get arsy about but I will mention it. If you do it again on my watch, you're a dick and I am highly unlikely to book you again. Simple as. You'll lose work, even if you don't know it.

If you don't believe drugs have done good things for us, then go home and burn all your records, all your tapes, and all your CDs because every one of those artists who have made brilliant music and enhanced your lives? RrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrEAL f***ing high on drugs. The Beatles were so f***ing high they let Ringo sing a few songs.
That said, I had an (unsuccessful) audition a few months ago which I was really stoned for. Bad idea, kept making wierd faces and getting parts confused. It was a reggae band though! They were all really straight, very good at reproducing the recordings note-for note but we got to their "dub version" of White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane and it was just like the original! I was expecting them to at least have slowed it down or something, had to change mental gears in a hurry, not something that works very well when you've had a smoke. Needless to say, it all went downhill from there I think it depends very much on what type of stuff you're playing, and also the group's collective energy. If you disapprove of your bandmates habits and you're constantly assessing their playing then you're definitely sending bad vibes their way and they'll pick up on that. Self-fulfilling prophecy. It's pretty clear that drugs (and I'm hesitant to use that word for weed since it's a plant that grows naturally all over the planet) do enhance musical abilities, you just have to look at the amount of original music that's sprung from their use. Pioneers in literally every genre of music have been getting off their heads since time began, there's really no debate. It's about the collective consciousness though, if you try to play a gig in a state which is completely different to every rehearsal you've had you're going to fall on your face for sure. Altered states are definitely a major potential tool in any musicians arsenal, but it needs to be approached with the right intent. The number of original bands who play teetotal is I think very very small. Cover bands though, it's surely better to be straight, different parts of the brain being used and all that. Also, alcohol is designed to stop you thinking and expressing yourself freely. That's why it's legal. I'll leave it at that. -
Thanks for the suggestions. I've actually got a cheap EQ pedal at home so I'll give that a go. I don't really understand how a compressor could be what I'm after though. There's one on my head but I never really used it, it was good for making notes sustain for ages though! Never saw a need for a compressor outside of recording, I prefer controlling the dynamics myself rather than having everything squashed up. Can someone suggest some settings?

I've never tried one but I'm interested: do they do anything useful on bass? Would it be worth getting one to boost the top-end while tapping, or am I better off just having new strings all the time?

Built-in distortion/overdrive. Already been done on a few but if there was a nice onboard distortion with a couple of different sounds, and maybe with the low-end filtered out and clean (or lows coming from another pickup), that'd be ace. Also, I think a flanger type comb-filter would be nice. So you'd have a knob for controlling the delay between signals, then you could choose which part of the sweep you wanted it on a leave it there. Loads of tonal options there. Also you could play with hammer-ons and make time-synched flanger sounds by moving the knob! It's a winner.

I need a bit of money in my paypal account and don't want to wait for the bank transfer thing so anything unsold on monday is coming down. Paypal only, prices include P+P Fontline Delay. Works but you have to hold down one of the buttons to get it to start, and I can only get one of the modes to work (sample and hold thing doesn't work) £5 Rocktek EQ pedal. No cover for the battery compartment. £5 Behringer BDI21. £14 EDIT: bdi sold, the others are withdrawn from sale.
The pedal is midi so you would need to connect it to the midi in out on your soundcard or buy a separate usb interface. Then you click the midi map button at the top (its near the play button) and then you click on the control you wish to assign and simply turn the controller and it maps to it! You can also map keyboard keys to control functions.
What he said. If you don't have a midi port on your laptop though you can get usb->midi converter things off ebay for really cheap so you would be able to do it with one of those. I had to set up the FCB to send midi notes instead of CC codes for it to work with Live, loads of foot tapping but it's quite simple if you've got the manual. You can assign things in Live to midi notes/controllers by clicking the midi button on the top-right, click on what you want to assign then stomp the pedal. Pretty simple, although there's a few settings you sometimes need to fiddle about with to get it to work properly. Also, you can make your own foot controller by getting an old PC keyboard, removing most of the keys and leaving just a few spaced apart so you can hit them with your foot.
Thanks Ped and Kneal - I actually tried this again and got it to work so it's part of the fun of getting to know this thing! What I'm still slightly struggling with is the whole 'idea' of Ableton being a great ting for creating live mixes with loops and live playing at the same time - I guess what I'm trying to say is - if I am to jam along with some pre-recorded loops in a 'live' situation - what's the best way to record this while I play it? At the moment I am just using Abelton like any other music software i.e. creating parts, mixing and editing as I go - but on the 'demo' in the package you can just mess around with some loops and do all sorts of crazy stuff - I feel I'm missing the point of Ableton or just being a total noob... any thoughts or advice appreciated. M
As ped said, you can record the output by making a new audio track and changing the input to "resample", then recording on that track. However, especially if you're triggering/mixing/....ing about with stuff in realtime, you'd be better off using the record button at the top of the screen to record into the Arrangement View. That way it will record everything you do (i.e. midi data and anything you change with the keyboard/mouse) and you'll be able to edit/fix/remix it later on. You could record your bass to it's own separate track and still be able to change things round, add fx etc later. If you're playing bass at the same time, you probably want a foot pedal to trigger different parts/loops with, I've got a behringer fcb1010 which is very good for this, and it's got 2 wah-type pedals on it as well which you could assign to anything - a low-pass filter on the main out is fun, you can make your own wah-wahs, weird pedal-controlled effects, it's only limited by your imagination really. Then you can use the buttons to trigger either individual loops or groups (i.e. one stomp for verse, one stomp for chorus); you could also use them to mute/unmute tracks, then have everything playing at the same time and just bring them in or out with the pedal.
OK chaps - hope one of you has some experience with Ableton. My problem - I've made a shiny new tune using Ableton Live 6 - and I used BFD for my drum part - I recorded them as an 'audio' file as they don't really work as a VST Midi unit - but they do come ujp as a VST. I recorded a groovy drum part and it all sounds great in Ableton - but then I 'rendered' the file to disk - ie created a mix-down to listen to - and the track went over fine as a WAV file but it was MINUS the drum part... which makes me think there's a problem exporting these files or rather 'samples' - if any of you have an idea about where I might have gone wrong - or what buttons I need to push to make the drum samples exportable I'd be really grateful. Thanks Mike
If it plays back fine normally, then it sounds like you've not selected the drum part in the Session view before rendering. Try go into Session view and press ctrl-A before rendering. That's all I can suggest really, I don't know anything about BFD. Are you using it as a VST plugin on a midi track? You might want to try Freezing the drum track before rendering then, that might do it...
